Details of the Merchant Navy Courses After 10th:

GP RATING COURSE:

GP Rating stands for the General Purpose Rating course. It is a 6-month long course. After the completion of this course, the applicant can join the Merchant Navy ships as a Deck or Engine crew. 

  • EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The applicants must have passed with an aggregate of 40% marks in 10th Standard/SSLC/SSC/Matriculation from a recognized Board or a candidate must have given an equivalent examination from a recognized Board with Science and Mathematics as subjects and also have scored a minimum aggregate of 40% marks in English subject

  • AGE LIMIT:

The candidates must have completed its 17 ½ Years of age and should be below 25 Years of age 

DECK RATING COURSE:

The deck rating course is a 6-month course. Students who have passed the 10th standard (with mathematics, science, and English subjects) are eligible to pursue this course. This course focuses on deck training only. After the completion of this course, one may join merchant navy ships as part of their deck crew.

  • AGE LIMIT:

The minimum age of the applicant should be between 17½ to 25 years of age.

  • EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

The Minimum qualification required by the candidate is that they should clear their 10th standard passed (with mathematics, science and English subjects) from a recognized board.

ENGINE RATING COURSE:

The Engine rating course is a 6-month course. Students who have passed the 10th standard (with mathematics, science, and English subjects) are eligible to pursue this course The pre-sea training course lasts 6 months. This program mainly focuses on engine training only. After the completion of this course, a candidate can join merchant navy ships as part of their engine crew.

  • AGE LIMIT:

The minimum age of the candidate should be between 17½ to 25 years.

  • EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

The Minimum qualification required by the candidate is that they should clear their 10th standard passed (with mathematics, science, and English subjects) from a recognized board.

SALOON RATING COURSE:

The Saloon rating course is a 6 month long pre-sea training course. This course basically focuses on the catering department of a merchant navy ship. It seeks to trains the students and makes them capable of taking up responsibilities in the catering department aboard merchant navy ships.

  • AGE LIMIT:

The minimum age of the candidate should be between 17½ to 25 years.

  • EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The Minimum qualification required by the applicants is that they should clear their 10+2 passed from a recognized board. There are some institutes that also accept 10th passed students. 

NCV COURSE:

NCV stands for Near Coastal Voyage. This course is a 6 month long training program. This program will be followed by 24 months of offshore training or 18 months with a distance learning program.

  • AGE LIMIT:

The candidate is required to be of age between 17½ to 25 years. 

  • EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The Minimum qualification required by the candidate is that they should clear their 10th from a recognized board. 

DIPLOMA IN MARINE ENGINEERING:

Diploma In Marine Engineering program is a 3 years long Diploma Certificate program. This program is built to produce quality maritime engineers who can deal with engineering aspects of ships when in the harbor or in the sea.

  • AGE LIMIT:

The minimum age required by the candidate is 16 years.

  • EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The minimum qualification required is 10th or 10+2 passed with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks scored from a recognized board.
