Duties of a B.E Petroleum Engineering Course Graduate:

The following duties are:

  • Design equipment to extract oil and gas from onshore and offshore reserves.
  • Develop plans to drill in oil and gas fields.
  • Develop ways to inject water and chemicals out of the oil.
  • Make sure the oil field equipment is properly installed.
  • Evaluate the production of wells through surveys, testing, and analysis.

Career prospects for B.E Petroleum Engineering graduate:

  • 53% of BE Petroleum Engineering graduates work in oil and gas extraction.
  • 14% provided support activities in mining.
  • 7% were employed in architectural, engineering, and related services.
  • 6% were involved in the manufacturing of coal and petroleum products.
  • 6% were employed as company managers.

Entry-level engineers usually work under the supervision of experienced engineers. In large companies, they are first trained.  As they gain more experience, they are moved to difficult projects and have more independence in designing and implementing projects.

They may also advance to supervise a team of engineers and technicians.
