A Level Course

A Level Course is an advanced and a second-level course in DOEACC Scheme under Information Technology after O level. It is equivalent to an Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications as recognized by the Government for job purposes. Students who want to pursue the A Level Course have to undergo the entrance exam that is conducted by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, NIELIT.

A Level Course: Students can also do A Level Course in two slots the same as O Level i.e. May- June Session and October-November Session (for CIE) and May-June session and January session (for EDEXCEL). Working professionals can also appear in the examinations of this course directly if they have the requisite educational qualifications.

Why Do We Need A Level Course?

The A Level Course abbreviation is Advanced Subsidiary Level Examination. The course usually starts in the month of January and July every year. Students can pursue the A Level Course after completing the O Level Course. Students who have completed their O Level & A Level course both, then it becomes equivalent to BCA i.e Bachelors Of Computer Application.

The  A Level course Syllabus consists of 10 theory modules (nine compulsory modules and one elective module) and one project. Eligibility Criteria for A Level Course in NIELIT

The Eligibility Criteria for A Level Course is based on the requirements of the Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC) Society. The A-Level Examination is conducted by the Computer Society of India (CSI) under the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology, NIELIT. So, in order to persevere this Course will have to meet the Eligibility Criteria for A Level Course assigned by NIELIT.

A Level Course Eligibility

For Authorized Courses

  • To hold the O Level Course Certificate. Or
  • Hold a Government Recognized Diploma of a minimum of 2 years duration after 10th class, followed in each case by an officially recognized ‘A’ level course. Or
  • Hold a Government recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after 10+2. Or
  • Graduate and a certified 'A' Level course in each case (Maybe concurrent)

For Direct Applicants

  • Hold the O Level Course Certificate. Or
  • The government recognized the polytechnic engineering diploma. Or
  •  Graduate, followed in each case, by one 1-year relevant experience. 

A Level Course Duration

The A Level course Duration is based on two aspects-First is for O Level Qualifiers, and the Second is for Graduates and Polytechnic students. The A Level course Duration for O Level qualified students and for Graduates and polytechnic students is apparently different.

  • Students who have successfully qualified for their O Level course enjoy one special profit; for them, the A-Level course Duration is for 1-year.
  • If O Level Qualifiers are not able to complete the course in one year then the time duration will keep on extending.
  • Students who want to pursue the course after qualifying their Graduates from any stream or if he/she is a Polytechnic student then the course duration is for 1½year (Semester System) it is divided into 3 semesters and two Practical and one Project.

The A Level course Syllabus  has been diversified by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology, NIELIT, it contains:

  • Nine Compulsory modules
  • Two Elective module

Project: After the completion of the second semester, applicants pursuing A-level courses will also have to complete a project holding 100 marks. Now, after the successful completion and clearing of a minimum of 5 theory papers along with the practicals, the candidate has to submit their project with a fee of Rs. 500/-(in the form of a Demand Draft in favor of DOEACC).

Steps of  A-Level course Registration Form

The A Level course Registration Form is different for For Direct applicants and For Accredited Institute applicants. Down below process for filling the A-Level course Registration Form is given. Kindly go through it:

For Direct Applicants:

  • Firstly, applicants have to visit the official website of the NIELIT i.e www.nielit.gov.in
  • The NIELIT homepage will appear on your screen, on the right-hand side of the page “Apply Online” option is given click on it.
  • Once clicked, under the Information Technology option: “A LEVEL (A)” option is given, click on it.
  • After clicking on it the “Online  A-Level course Registration Form ” page will appear on your screen. 
  • Read all the information given on the page very carefully.
  • Once read, select the declaration and click on the “I Agreed & Proceed” option.
  • Now, the A-Level course Registration Form will open on your screen.
  • The A Level course Registration Form is divided into 7 sections- Registration Details, Applicant's Personal Details, Contact Details Permanent Address Details Correspondence Details Educational / Qualification Details, identification details, and Declaration details. These sections are further subdivided.
  • Fill all the sections very carefully with all the original information.
  • Make sure that you upload your updated photograph.
  • Upload your scanned signature and also your Thumb impression.
  • Finally, click on the “Submit” button.
  • After the submission of an A-Level course Registration Form, the payment can be done through the payment options (CSC-SPV/Online) by the applicant himself/herself.

For Accredited Institute Applicants:

  • Applicants need to visit the official website of NIELIT i.e www.nielit.gov.in
  • The NIELIT homepage will appear on your screen, click on the “Apply Online” option.
  • Under the Information Technology option: click on the“A LEVEL (A)” option.
  • Now, the “ A-Level course Registration Form ” page will appear. 
  • Read all the information given very carefully.
  • Once read, select the declaration and click on the “I Agreed & Proceed” option.
  • Finally, the A-Level course Registration Form will appear, fill the application form carefully.
  • After the final submission of an A-Level course Registration Form, the Institute will verify the applicants by using their Login ID and Passwords. 
  • The A Level course Registration fee can be paid Online for one or multiple applicants (if the payment option selected is ‘Accredited Institute’).
  • Finally, dispatch the Online registration application forms to NIELIT. 

NOTE: At the time of filling the A-Level course Registration Form applicants will be required to submit/upload the following official ID:

  • Enrolment No. of UIDAI (EID)
  • Bank A/c (Passbook with Photo)
  • PAN Card 
  • Valid Passport 
  • Valid Driving License
  • Valid Photo ID Card of Student Issued by School/College Authority
