BSc Nautical Science Course:

This Three-years course B.Sc in nautical science is basically an undergraduate course which is approved by the Director-General of Shipping and director-general of shipping reside under the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India. This course is a detailed study of the basic academic and practical devices which are required to safely navigate and operate marine vehicles like a ship. The subject of the study that forms of the course‘s curriculum are navigation and seamanship which is the basic science of the application of shipboard equipment and tools.

In broadway, B.Sc in nautical science is an undergraduate course in which students study the tools and techniques to handle the ship and also navigate the ship from one place to another place safely. In this course, students will get vast knowledge related to ship functioning in detail in the form of theory and practical both. Job description: Deck officer works are related in the Executive department where he is responsible for the navigation of the ship, maneuvering, and safe handling of the ship,  Deck officer is responsible for the communication between the ship and shore. The Deck officer is also responsible for the handling and delivery of the cargo and the complete operation of the life-saving devices. The role of a deck officer is vital onboard a merchant's vessel.

Job description: Nautical surveyor is responsible to inspect the equipment intended for the new or existing vessels which ensure compliances with so many standards and specifications. Job position: Scuba driver

Job description: They usually work under the water using scuba gear to inspect, repair, remove and install the new equipment and structures. They are responsible to use a variety of power and other hand tools like drills, sledgehammers, torches, and various types of welding equipment.

Job description: Marine superintendent is major responsible for the safe and economical running of the vessels in the efficient mode and under his control. The main duty and responsibilities of the Marine superintendent included planning and the execution of the docking and shipyard repair work and among others.

What to do after the course completion:

B.Sc in nautical science is a 3years program that has been divided into six semesters. After finished up this course, Candidates are required to go one-year-long sea service, and after the sea service and clearing the oral examination, the candidate can obtain the second mate’s foreign-going certificates of competency. This certificate will enable candidates to hold the post of navigation officer in the Merchant Navy. 

Even getting this position, a candidate can climb in an upward direction into their career ladders. After completion of an 18-month service as a navigation officer, candidates are required to clear the written and oral examination. one could obtain the first mate’s foreign-going certificates of competency and after 12 months of sea service on the position of chief Mate and clearing the written exam as well as the oral examination, candidates can obtain the degree Master’s foreign-going certificates of competency.
