OTET Syllabus 2024

OTET Syllabus: Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) is organized by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha. It is conducted for the recruitment of Teachers in the private and Government schools of Odisha. There will be 2 Papers are having for the appointment of the teachers. Paper- I am to recruit the teacher of class 1st to 5th and paper- II is for class 6th to 8th. Odisha TET includes Paper- I and Paper- II syllabus different but 2 or 3 subjects are similar.

The subjects include various topics in the whole syllabus. Child Development &  Pedagogy and Language- 1 & 2 are similar subjects in both Papers. Moreover, Mathematics and Environmental Studies are added in Paper- I and Social Science, Science and Mathematics subjects are included in Paper-II. To score good marks in the OTET Exam must check the OTET Exam Syllabus. Therefore, the OTET Syllabus plans the study well and aspirants select their topics that cover less time for study.

OTET Exam Syllabus:

The OTET Paper 1 Syllabus and OTET Paper 2 syllabus are different but two or three subjects are very similar in both examinations. Getting a good score in paper-1 and paper-2, aspirants are advised to check the OTET Syllabus in the proper mode. A proper understanding of the OTET syllabus for paper-1 and paper-2 will make your exam preparation inefficient.

The OTET Syllabus of OTET Areas:

Aspirants can better understand the subjects including various topics. Here are the given subjects for paper- I and paper- II. Check the complete syllabus along with the topics which are given below:

OTET Paper 1 & 2 Syllabus :

• Child Development and Pedagogy:-

Characteristics and needs of diverse learners, interaction with learners, attributes, and qualities of a good facilitator of learning.

• Language- 1 (Odia/Hindi/Urdu/Telugu/Bengali):- 

Principles of Teaching English, Teaching Learning Materials, Unseen Prose Passage, Comprehensive & Continuous Evaluation, Development of Language Skills, Teacher, Learning Materials. 

• Language- 2:- 

Unseen Poem, Unseen Passage, Literacy Terms, Modal Auxiliaries, Basic Knowledge of English Sound and their Phonetic Transcription.  

Paper- I subjects include:-

• Mathematics:- 

Problem-solving abilities, Pedagogical understanding of the subjects. Mathematics Education in schools, Shapes and spatial relationship, Number System, Operations in Numbers, Measurement, Methods and Approaches to Teaching-Learning Mathematics, Data Handling and Patterns, Assessments in Mathematics.

• Environment Studies:-

Methods and Approaches, Concept of the Subject, Evaluation in EVS, Governance, Physical Features of Odisha In India, History of Freedom Struggle in India and Odisha, Matter, Force & Energy, Internal System of Human Body, Health and Diseases. 

Paper-II subject:-

• Social Study:-

Aims and Objects of Teaching Social studies, Evaluation in Social Science, Political Science, Methods and Approaches, History and Political Science, Geography.

• Mathematics:-

Shapes and spatial relationship, Mathematics at Upper Primary Stage, Number System, Algebra, Evaluation in Mathematics, Commercial Arithmetic, Methods and Approaches to Teaching-Learning Mathematics.

• Science:- 

Evaluation in Science, Nature of Science, Life Science, Physical Science, Methods and Approaches.

OTET Exam Pattern for the paper-1:

The OTET Exam Pattern for paper-1 such as there will be 150 multiple choice questions in the exam and candidates are required to complete all 150 questions in 2.5 hours duration. 30 questions of 30 marks will be asked from the following sections which are given below.

• Child development and pedagogy
• Language-1
• Language-2
• Mathematics
• Environmental studies

OTET Exam Pattern for the paper-2:

The OTET Exam Pattern for paper-2 will contain a total of 150 objective questions with multiple choice types. The duration of this exam will be 2.5 hours and 30 questions of 30 marks will be asked from the following subjects.

• Child development and pedagogy
• Language-1
• Language-2(English)
• Mathematics and Science(30 questions from mathematics and 30 questions from science)
• Social studies(30 questions from the history portion as well as the political science and 30 questions from the geography)

Note: Candidates are awarded one mark for each correct answer and there is no negative marking for the wrong answers.
