OTET Exam 2019

Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) is conducted by Board of Secondary Education Cuttack to select the candidates for the post of the teachers for Classes I to VIII in government, private aided, and private unaided in the state of Odisha. It is basically a qualifying exam and the applicants who clear this exam will get the eligibility for Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT) held by the state government.

To work as a teacher for class 1 to 8  in private school across the state (Odisha) qualifying OTET is mandatory. The exam comprises two levels: Primary level and Upper primary level. The exam is laid down by certain rules and regulations under central regulatory authorities. The aspiring applicants can go for the registration process, after checking out the eligibility criteria.

OTET 2019 Eligibility Criteria:

OTET is going to be applicable to all candidates who can possess requisite academic and coaching qualifications with requisite percentage of marks and to all candidates pursuing the final year of the teacher training courses before the date of publication of advertisement for conducting OTET who can aspire to become teachers for categories I to VIII within the schools of the State Govt., private aided schools and private unaided schools within the State of Odisha.

However, the candidates aspiring to seek employment as teachers in private unaided schools shall even have the option of appearing at Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by Central Govt. through CBSE, if they so need. The candidates after being qualified in OTET may also apply for any improvement. Persons having the subsequent minimum qualifications shall be eligible for appearing in OTET.

Category-A (Paper- I):
  • Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and 2-year diploma in elementary education (CT). OR
  • Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and 2-year diploma in Education (Special Education). OR
  • Graduation and a 2-year diploma in Elementary Education/ 2-year diploma in education.
Category-B (Paper- II):
  • Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.). OR
  • Must possess a Graduate degree with 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed.(Special Education). OR
  • Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and 4-year B.A.Ed./ B.Sc.Ed.
  • Provided that relaxation 50 minimum qualifying marks in +2 or graduation level, because the case may be, shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC/ SEBC class.
OTET 2019 Exam Centres:

BSE Odisha has yet not released any details regarding OTET exam centres. However, candidates can check complete details about their allotted OTET 2019 exam centre on their respective admit cards.

It may be noted that once a test centre is allotted to a candidate it cannot be changed under any circumstances. Regarding the same, the official website informs, “The change of examination centre is not permissible.”
