Marine Engineering Courses After 12th - Admission, Fees, Duration, Colleges & Salary 2024-here

Marine Engineering: After class 12th, if you decide to study marine engineering you need to have a clear understanding of the different types of courses available in the field. You should understand your passion as well as your aptitude to make your future bright. Nowadays people are aware of the fact that marine engineers play a really important role in the functioning of almost all kinds of ships.

Although this profession is not so popular among youngsters, it still has to be appreciated for its duties and importance. In this article, we will try to describe what sort of educational requirements candidates need to have to become marine engineers as well as how they can advance in their careers. We will be discussing Marine Engineering Courses after the 12th. Students who have an interest in marine engineering can pursue the marine engineering course after completing their class 12th.

Marine Engineering After 12th:

Currently, marine engineering is a widespread occupation and there are many reasons behind it. First of all, it is an occupational field in which development proceeds at a quite rapid pace. There are constantly appearing new types of vessels and devices for their maintenance and navigation. Moreover, there is also renovation of old ships and invention of new ones. To become a marine engineer one must complete certain requirements. Since the technology of the vessels is changing with every passing year; therefore it is necessary that a person has to attend routine lectures and classes on the available technologies to be updated.

The field of marine engineering has evolved rapidly with the rise in the use and exploration of sea routes. The rapid growth in the offshore and shipping industry created a dire need for marine engineers as they were required to build ships, port terminals, cargo handling facilities, etc. Over the years, there have been great strides in the development of marine engineering and it is now regarded as a sophisticated discipline that involves various aspects of naval architecture, mechanical design, electrical engineering, and oceanographic research. Marine engineering is the one where you merge your skills from other branches and develop them further. It also involves dealing with boat building, designing, operating ports, etc.

A marine engineer is an engineer who specializes in the design, construction, and maintenance of marine engines and machinery. This includes all kinds of ships from yachts to aircraft carriers. A marine engineer takes the same basic qualifications as a 'ship’s captain,' although he or she holds an engineering license rather than the university-accredited 'master’s degree in marine engineering.' Marine engineers are generally responsible for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) or rebuilding work on a ship.

Why Should I do Marine Engineering:

Marine engineering is not an engineering specialty. It is the branch of engineering that deals with the design, construction, and operation of engines and machinery used onboard ships and for marine transportation and mechanical equipment. Marine engineers carry out a variety of duties, including design and construction, maintenance, repair, and operation of vessels.

Their work varies by product or service type and may involve the design, production, or operation of ships, marine structures, machines, or mechanical systems. And their work routines can be very different depending on whether they’re working for the private sector in consulting or in the construction industry; whether they’re employed by a government agency at the local, state, or federal level.

The three main disciplines within marine engineering are Marine Propulsion, Ship Building, and Naval Architecture. The last of these, Naval Architecture, involves engineering the shape and structure of the ship itself. This not only includes the hull but also its superstructures, such as masts, funnel uptakes, and fins.

A marine engineer (ME) is a person who, under the direction of ship owners and managers, has responsibility for keeping ships clean, safe to operate in all sea conditions, and performing within desired parameters. Marine engineers are usually employees of private companies or public agencies. Marine engineers' main duties include the operation and maintenance of engineering equipment in ships such as pumps, compressors, generators, and refrigeration machines.
