The Class 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th exams in Tamil Nadu are regulated by the Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examinations (Sec.) & Board of Higher Secondary Examinations. The Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education falls under the Department of Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. The board was established in 1910. It is responsible for conducting three board examinations for Class 10th, 11th, and 12th. However, Tamil Nadu Board 9th examinations are administered by the authorized schools of the board.
About Tamil Nadu State Board: Also known as Tamil Nadu State Council of Educational Research (TNSCERT), It is an institutional body that is responsible for designing, executing, and revising the curriculum of Class 1st to Class 12th. TNSCERT creates and designs the syllabus, curriculum, and exam pattern of various subjects for all the classes from 1st to 12th. All the schools authorized by the Tamil Nadu State Board follow the curriculum and all the guidelines drafted by the state board.
Class 9th helps a student to set his/her areas of interest for choosing a particular stream for further classes. Therefore it is very necessary for them to understand their curriculum and score well in all the subjects.
The state board is responsible for conducting Class 10th, class 11th, and Class 12th Exams. Tamil Nadu Class 9th Board Exams are held by the affiliated schools of the Tamil Nadu state board. Tamil Nadu Board 9th Exam is conducted in the month of March/April. The exam center for Tamil Nadu Board Class 9th Exams will remain at your school campus only. The syllabus of the Tamil Nadu 9th Board exams is comparatively more difficult than the syllabus of previous classes. It is also said that the Tamil Nadu Class 10th syllabus is much lesser in difficulty level than the Class 9th syllabus. Therefore we advise you to prepare well for your class 9th final examinations. These exams are held internally by your school and the result is also prepared by the school itself. Many candidates often ask us that " While calculating the class 10 CGPA, do the class 9 marks have any weightage?” The answer is No! The Tamil Nadu 10th result is solely based on your performance in Class 10th, no weightage is given to the Class 9th marks however the knowledge you gain in class 9th puts a major impact on your performance in Class 10th. Tamil Nadu Board 9th exams will be held between 5th May 2024 to 13th May 2024. The difficulty level of the examination is quite high as there are so many new concepts that are included in the Class 9th Board Exam. Due to the high difficulty level, many students fail in their first attempt at TN Board Class 9th exams.
Earlier when a student fails in class 9th exams, he/she had to repeat the same class and appear in the board exams the next year. But now the board had introduced a procedure of Supplementary exams. If a student fails in their first attempt in class 9th board exams, he/she gets another chance to re-appear in the exam. This exam is called the Tamil Nadu Board Supplementary exam and it is conducted after the result declaration of the main class 9th exam. The exam procedure, exam pattern, and syllabus of the Tamil Nadu Board Class 9th Supplementary Exam remain the same as the main exam.
Students who have enrolled in class 9th must know that they are allowed to ask their school management for organizing supplementary exams in case he/she fails the main exam.
