Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education [in short JK BOSE] is a Governmental Board. The foundation of JK BOSE was laid on 28 August 1975 [43 years ago]. The head office of the JKBOSE is located in Jammu, Srinagar, J&K, India. J&K board grants affiliation to more than 10,200 schools across the state and employs 22,856 teachers. The Jammu and Kashmir Board was authorised through legislation under the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education Act, 1975. Agha Ashraf Ali was its first chairman and now Prof. Veena Pandita handles the post of chairperson. Riaz Ahmad [Kashmir Administrative Service] is secretary.
The objective of the JKBOSE is to create perfection in the development and academic plan for the pupils studying up to Higher Secondary level in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. They always work to frame the study at a diverse level in a synchronised manner to empower scholars to learn in a stress-free atmosphere. All the study material is equipped with the latest knowledge applicable in practical life and value oriented.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education grants scholarship to the meritorious pupils to motivate them for education. Those students who secured highest marks in 12th board examinations will be awarded in the ceremony through cash prizes, awards and many other scholarship schemes. Every year JK board conducts Higher Secondary examination in February or March month. More than 50,000 of scholars appear for their examinations of JKBOSE.
