Distance M.com Course: About

What are the Eligibility Criteria for M.Com?

The basic eligibility criteria to pursue the M.Com course are given below.

  • Candidates have to score a minimum of 50% aggregate in BCom or BCom Hons or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Some universities also consider candidates who have completed their Bachelor’s degree in Economics & Statistics, BFIA, BBS, and BBE with a minimum aggregate score of 60% or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Candidates who belong to the reserved category are unrestricted to marks relaxation of up to 5% in government universities.

Admission Process for M.Com (Regular)

  • To take admission to the M.Com course, candidates have to give an entrance examination which is usually MCQ based. The entrance exam tests the candidate’s knowledge and background in commerce.
  • Top M.Com Universities such as Banaras Hindu University, Delhi University, Christ University, etc. organizes a national level examination for admission into their PG courses.
  • Therefore, to take admission in the M.Com course, candidates have to apply for the entrance exam. Based on the performance in the exam, candidates are offered admissions or succeeded in the next round of admission process, i.e., Counselling or Group Discussion and/or Personal Interview.
  • A merit list is released by the colleges on the basis of which candidates are given admissions.

M.Com Entrance Exams:

  1. Delhi University M.Com Entrance Exam

This entrance exam is conducted by the Delhi University every year to take admission of the candidates into its many colleges offering M.Com courses. A merit list is released having all the affiliated colleges cut off and on the basis of the student’s performance, they will be given admission into the college whose cut off is cleared.

  1. BHU PET

BHU PET is a university-level national examination that is organized by the Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The purpose of this exam is to take admission of the candidates into PG courses, including M.Com. Every year thousands of candidates appear for this exam across several exam centers all over India.

  1. PU CET (PG)

PU CET is a state-level entrance exam which is organized by the Punjab University, Chandigarh. The purpose of this exam is to take admission of the candidates into its various PG courses and programs in different fields such as science, management, commerce, etc. Every year this exam is conducted in the month of May and June through the offline mode.

  1. CUCET

CUCET is a national level examination conducted jointly by ten central universities. This entrance exam is conducted by the Central University of Rajasthan (CURAJ) in the month of April-May every year. CUCET exam offers admission into various UG, PG, Diploma & Ph.D. programs of the participating universities and colleges.

  1. Allahabad University PGAT

PGAT is a state level entrance exam which is conducted by the University of Allahabad every year to offer admission to its different PG level courses. The mode of the PGAT exam is usually through the offline mode whose application process starts in the month of March-April every year.

  1. AUCET

AUCET is a state level entrance exam which is conducted by the Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. This entrance exam offers admission only in PG courses. The affiliated colleges are Dr. BR Ambedkar University, Srikakulam, along with the Andhra University. AUCET exam is usually conducted in the month of May-June every year through the offline mode.


SRMHCAT is SRM Common Admission Test which is conducted by the SRM University. The purpose of this entrance exam is to offer admission in management, engineering, and commerce courses of UG & PG level. SRMHCAT is an aptitude based MCQ test of 150 minutes, therefore the syllabus is the same for all the courses.

How to Prepare for the M.Com Entrance Exams?

Mostly the entrance exams ask questions that are objective in nature, i.e., objective type questions and are completely Aptitude Based exams.

The M.Com entrance exam generally covers 4 sections which are as follows:

  •       General Knowledge
  •       Logical Reasoning
  •       Quantitative Aptitude
  •       English

Some of the entrance exams also ask graduation related questions in the paper format. Such entrance exams are a maximum of 100-200 marks. This depends on the test to test. After clearing the entrance exams, candidates will be selected for the group discussion and personal interview session (or counseling). If candidates clear all the required rounds, then a merit list will be released by the college on the basis of which admission will take place.

  • For the Aptitude section, your logical reasoning and quantitative ability should be strong.

For taking admission into the Distance M.Com course, candidates must have passed a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with a good percentage of marks, i.e., more than 40% aggregate.
