Students are given the choice of completing their internship in the last year for the two semesters. Students complete their internship requirements in the last two semesters.
The basic and brief topics covered above are taught by universities and colleges alike. However, slight changes and even modes of instruction can vary from place to place.
Apart from this, many universities and colleges also provide distance learning options for students who wish to pursue this course.
Usually, the time frame for a Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course Distance Learning is around a year. Due to this, it is less costly than the traditional BPT Course, with the average fee ranging from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 60,000.
At the end of the semesters, students are examined and graded as per their level of achievement in the theory and practical paper. They also have to appear for a 30 marks viva voce and 70 marks theoretical paper, after which they become eligible to pass on to the next semester.
The internship at the end of the year, mainly the fourth year is done on a rotational basis covering various clinical branches of ICU, Neurology, Orthopaedics, General Medicines, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Neurosurgery Paediatrics, including both in-patient and out-patient services, etc.
To gain the internship certificate, candidates need to appear and complete the entire six months of the internship period and will not be awarded the degree certificate without it. Also, only candidates that have passed all the subjects before, can appear for the internships.
