B.OPTOM Course: B.OPTOM stands for Bachelor of Optometry, B optometry Course duration is four years undergraduate program.   • An optometrist is a professional in the field of providing primary eye care and correction. He or she conducts eye tests, prescribed eye drops, glasses, etc. 
  • Ophthalmologists are doctors who prescribe and diagnose, and treat patients with eye diseases, surgeries, etc. They, however, must be certified by the (OCI) Optometry Council of India to be legal practitioners.  

➦ Once students complete the B OPTOM Course duration is completed, graduates become qualified to provide complete care for eye patients with diseases, by prescribing glasses, low vision aids, surgeries, and other eye correction measures and options.

B.OPTOM Course Eligibility Criteria:

  • The B.OPTOM Course Eligibility criteria are simple and straightforward. 
  • Candidates must have passed their 10+2 from a recognized educational board. 
  • They must have passed with a minimum of 50% marks in subjects of the Science Stream. The subjects can include, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics. 

B.Optom Course Admission Process 2024:

➦ Students who wish to gain admission in the B optometry Course can do so by following two admission paths. The merit-based or through an entrance exam. According to the Merit-based admission procedure, candidates gain admission to the colleges and universities based on the marks they have scored in their 12th grade. 

➦ For students who wish to gain admission through an entrance exam can do so by either attempting a National level entrance exam or by appearing for a university, college, or institution-level entrance exam. Aspiring candidates pursuing a Bachelor of Optometry Course admission through an entrance exam can do so by attempting the EYECET entrance exam or the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). It is designed to specifically test a candidate's aptitude and relevant skills to pursue the Bachelor of Optometry Course. The other entrance exam which is widely accepted is the (AIIMS) All India Institute of Medical Sciences Optometry Test. The eligibility criteria are the same as EYECET.
