BA LLB Hons. Course: The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BA LLB Honours) is simply a law degree that candidates can pursue just after completing their higher studies, i.e., 10+2. BA LLB Hons vs BA LLB Course:

The main difference between a BA LLB Course and a BA LLB (Hons) course is that in the BA LLB Hons Course candidates will get in-depth knowledge about the various law subjects. According to the Bar Council of India (BCI), candidates studying BA LLB (Hons) course will have to study at least eight papers from one law group with other six optional papers from another group. This group includes – Constitutional Law Group, Business Law Group, International Trade Law, Crime & Criminology, International Law, Law & Agriculture as well as Intellectual Property Law. In short, BA LLB course students have to study at least 28 subjects whereas BA LLB (Hons) course candidates have to study a minimum of 36 law papers.

BA LLB Hons Course Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates can apply for BA LLB Hons Course if they have cleared their higher secondary education from a recognized board. Some of the popular law colleges also require minimum qualifying marks in 10+2 that candidates have to fulfill in order to be eligible for the BA LLB Hons course offered by them. Therefore, the candidates who belong to General/ OBC/ Specially abled person categories must have secured at least 45% to 50% marks in the 10+2 level to pursue a BA LLB Hons course. The percentage of marks required for the SC/ ST category is 40% to 45%.

According to the BCI regulations for legal education, there is no age limit to apply for BA LLB Hons course admissions.

Generally, candidates have to give entrance exams to get into the LLB Hons Course. Once candidates qualify for the entrance exam, they will be called for other rounds of the admission process.
