Steps to Calculate JEE Main result (or rank) answer keys:

National Testing Agency (NTA) is responsible for issuing the official answer keys of the JEE Main Exam on the official website of JEE Main. NTA generally publishes the JEE Main answer keys and OMR sheets after the completion of the exams. All those candidates who have appeared in the exam can now check out their probable scores and in turn, evaluate their possibilities of enrolling admission into an institute/college or course of their choice and interest. While calculating the probable scores, applicants must strictly obey the marking scheme of the examination as described in the JEE Main exam pattern.

Marking Scheme of JEE Main Result:

Every exam has its own marking scheme and criteria for calculating the secured marks and percentile of the candidate.

  • For every right answer, the candidate will be given 4 marks.
  • If any incorrect attempt is made, 1 mark will be subtracted.

While viewing the OMR sheets, candidates will be able to calculate the total number of correct and incorrect attempts that they have made. After that, calculate the total positive and negative marks they have scored in their examination. The total score of the candidates will only be determined by subtracting the total negative marks from the total positive marks gained.

  • Total positive marks = (Total right answers) x 4
  • Total negative marks = (Total wrong attempts) x 1

How to determine the inter-se merit list?

Whenever there’s any case found when two or more candidates got equivalent total NTA Score in JEE Main Exam, inter-se merit of all the candidates will be determined in the following way:

  • The NTA score of the raw mark in Mathematics
  • The NTA score of the raw mark in Physics
