Complete AFCAT Syllabus Scheme of Syllabus (EKT 2025 – Technical Branch):

EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test) aims at testing the basic knowledge of engineering required for the candidates to qualify for a technical branch. The technical branch includes courses in Aeronautical Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical). This examination is designed for the candidates who are in pre-final to the final year engineering level. Within the duration of 1 hour, a total of 74 Objective type questions are asked.

The AFCAT Syllabus of examination includes two parts –

1. General Engineering (40 questions) – Modern Physics, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computers, etc.
2. Specialist Paper for each Engineering discipline (35 questions) – Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical), Computer and Electronics, Mechanical, Electronics, and Communication Engineering.

AFCAT EKT Exam 2025:

All the applicants whose application has been successfully submitted online will be called for AFCAT(Air Force Common Admission Test) and EKT(Engineering Knowledge Test) applicable for the candidates interested in the technical branch.

Applicants whose online applications have been successfully submitted are required to further proceed and attempt the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) (applicable only for candidates applying for the technical branch). EKT will be held just after AFCAT has been conducted and the time duration will be 45 min.

So overall the duration of the AFCAT Exam 2025 will be 2 Hours and the EKT exam will be for 45 mins. After cracking the AFCAT Exam 2025 candidates are further called for the SSB interview process which is also known as AFSB(Airforce Force Selection Board) interview process. AFSB is located in Dehradun, Varanasi, Mysore, and Gandhinagar.

The Requirement for AFCAT and EKT Exam 2025:

• The selection of candidates will be based on the score obtained by aspirants in Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) (only for technical posts) & AFCAT Exam 2025.
• After qualifying AFCAT & EKT, contenders will be invited for Medical Test, Intelligence Test, Group Test, Psychological Test, and Interview Test round organized by Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs).
• All applicants of the Flying Branch should attempt for the Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) and Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT).
• The AFCAT Exam will be of two hours duration and will contain multiple-choice questions on reasoning, general awareness, verbal ability, numerical ability, and military aptitude.
• Candidates opting for the ground duty (technical) branch will have to pass both AFCAT and EKT exams.

Guidelines For AFCAT Exam 2025:

In the time span of 120 min, 100 questions will be asked in the AFCAT exam. Technical Branch candidates have to qualify for additional test EKT. The question that appeared in both of these examinations will be objective-based. Further after clearing the exam candidates can appear for AFSB and recommended candidates will be called for training, based on their rank in the merit list. 

• IAF will conduct AFCAT written test in Offline Mode.
• AFCAT exam will consist of 100 questions with each question carrying 3 marks so the overall question paper consists of a total of 300 Marks.
• Questions will have four sections in which each section contains questions from different subjects.
• In each question, the candidate will have 4 options from which one correct answer should be chosen.
• Each of the questions carries 3 marks and the wrong attempt will result in a 1 mark deduction.
• The total time duration of the AFCAT exam will be 02 hours (120 Minutes).
• IAF will conduct an EKT written test in Offline Mode.
• EKT examination will be conducted immediately after the AFCAT exam on the same day. And the time duration of EKT will be 45 min.
