Step 1-  RESPOND TO ADVERTISEMENT FOLLOWED BY WRITTEN TEST

1. FOR NDA AND CDSE

The advertisement for NDA is released in the months of June and December, thus twice a year and for CDSE in the months of July and November which is organized by UPSC. Candidates are to apply as per the advertisement. The written tests are conducted by UPSC only. For details visit www.upsc.gov.in

2. AFCAT – AIR FORCE COMMON ADMISSION TEST

Candidates have to undergo the AFCAT exam 2020 for all entries other than NDA and CDSE and for all branches AFCAT exam 2020 will be conducted in February and August, i.e twice a year. Candidates are to apply as per the advertisement. The test is conducted by Indian Air Force in the examination centre across all of India.

3. NCC ENTRY

Air Sqn NCC Senior division ‘C’ certificate holders will have to apply online through NCC Special entry.

STEP 2 - AFSB (AIR FORCE SELECTION BOARD) TESTING

Candidates who have successfully cleared Step 1, will receive a call letter to report to any one of the Air Force Selection Boards located at Varanasi, Gandhinagar, Dehradun, Varanasi, Gandhinagar, and Mysore. At the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), candidates will undergo the following tests in order to ascertain your suitability and seize the opportunity as an officer in the Indian Air Force.

1. STAGE I TESTING

  • Officer Intelligence Rating Test.
  • Picture perception and Discussion Test.

2. STAGE II TESTING

Candidates who have qualified Stage 1 testing will undergo the following tests as part of STAGE-II testing during the next four to five days. The fifth day is for CPSS testing (Flying branch). The psychologist will conduct Psychological Tests as written tests. Group Tests are interactive indoor and outdoor activities which are a combination of mental and physical work.

The interview process involves an exchange of personal conversation with an Interviewing Officer. Candidates interested in the flying branch and have been recommended will also have to undergo a Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) test. These tests will be explained properly by the conduct board during the testing.

STEP 3 - CONDUCT OF MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

Recommended candidates will be sent for the medical examination either at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME) or New Delhi or Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru by the Selection Board.

STEP 4 - PREPARING ALL INDIA MERIT LIST

On the basis of performance in the written test and AFSB interview a Merit List will be compiled, subject to being medically fit. Based on the vacancies available in various branches, candidates will be instructed and are issued to join one of the Training establishments.

  • Candidates are required to carry necessary documents with them during the time of AFSB testing. Below we have mentioned the required documents which are necessary for AFSB Testing.
  • Original High School mark sheet issued by CBSE/State?ICSE Board.
  • Intermediate Certificates.
  • Marksheet of each year and Graduation/ Post-graduation Degree Certificates.
  • Two photocopies (attested) of each of the above-mentioned certificates.
  • Original NCC Certificate (If required).
  • NOC (No Objection Certificate) for candidates working in Central/ State Govt. or Public Sector Undertaking (if applicable).
