ADMISSION TO THAPAR INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, PATIALA:

Students who have fulfilled the eligibility criteria will only get admission to Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. To get admission, students have to go through the selection criteria of the institute. We have mentioned each course’s eligibility and selection criteria you can check out these down below:

For B.Tech/ B.E

• The basic eligibility criteria for B.Tech/B.E students must have done 10+2 in the science stream (physics, mathematics, and chemistry) from a recognized education board. 
• Students must have scored 60% of marks in 10+2. 5% os marks relaxation is given to the SC/ST category students. 
• Students have to sit in the JEE Main entrance exam and have to qualify with good marks. 
• The student’s list will be shortlisted based on the performance of the students in the JEE Main entrance exam.  

For BA/BSc

• Students must have completed class 12th in the relevant domain from a CBSE or any equivalent recognized education board. 
• With a minimum aggregate of 60% marks. 
• The selection of the students is based on the performance of the students in the national entrance examination. Students have to qualify for the entrance exam to get admission. 

For M.Tech/M.E 

• To get eligible for admission in M.Tech/M.E, students must have completed a bachelors’ degree in a relevant stream (B.Tech/B.E or BSc in the same specialization) from any recognized university. 
• Students must have scored 60% of marks in their bachelor’s degree. 55% of marks for SC/ST category students.
• Students have to appear in the GATE entrance examination.  
• Admission to the course will be done on the basis of the student’s performance in the GATE entrance exam. 

For MBA/MA 

• Students have to complete a graduate degree in any relevant stream from a recognized university. 
• With a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in a graduate degree. 
• The selection of the students for MBA is based on the student’s performance in the CAT/XAT/MAT/NMAT/GMAT/CMAT entrance examination along with group discussion and interview. 
• The students will be selected for MA, based on their marks secured in the class 12th and graduation. 

For MCA/MSC

• The minimum eligibility for MCA/MSC is students must have done graduation in a relevant stream and subjects from any recognized university. 
• Students must have scored at least 60% of marks. 
• The selection of the students is merit-based, for MSc 40% marks in class 12th and 60% marks in graduation weightage given. For MCA 65% of marks, weightage is given. 

For Ph.D

• The basic eligibility criteria for Ph.D. is students must have done a postgraduation degree in any stream from a recognized university. 
• Students must have scored a minimum aggregate of 55-60% marks. Excellent academic performance will be taken into consideration.
• The selection of the students is based on the merit of the entrance test and interview. Students who have secured a minimum of 20% marks in the written tests will be called for an interview round.

• Visit the official website of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala (https://www.thapar.edu/). 
• Create a new account and fill in the required details
• After that log in to the website with the help of your credentials like username and password. 
• Then the application form of TIET will open on your screen. 
• Fill in all required details in the application form like academic details, personal details, and contact details. 
• Now make a payment for the application form online or through demand draft in the favor of the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. 
• Take a printout of your application form for further details.
