Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal is a government deemed to be a university established in 1991. The university is approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and University Grants Commission (UGC), also accredited Grade "B+" by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The University offers 5 courses (M.Sc. B.Tech, M.Tech, M.B.A, and Ph.D.) across 30 various specializations. The University also conducts an Entrance test SLIET SET to take admission in the various course programs. Also, the university accepts entrance exams such as JEE Main, GATE, CAT/CMAT, JAM, CUCET.  Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology is solely funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD). 

Facilities in Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology Campus:

• Administrative Computer Services System (ACSS) provides LAN connectivity to the staff and students and provides technical assistance to them.
• It manages electronic mail, Internet services, FTP and INFED Server.
• Central Workshop  - Machine Shop, Tool Room, Arc Welding Shop, Gas Welding Shop, Carpentry Shop, Pattern Shop, Forging Shop, Foundry Shop, Sheet Metal shop
• Central Library consists of advanced facilities such as Plasma TV, MMP, CTV, OHP, Slide Projector, collection of VCD's as well as CD ROMs and also equipped with 30 desktop computers. 
• SLIET Innovation Centre for Innovation and incubation purpose with separate infrastructures and all the necessary resources.
• Sports Facilities such as Playgrounds, Courts in Hostel areas provided by the University. Sports sections cater to all the training requirements of students.
• The SLIET has also a Healthcare center for its students, faculty, and other staff members, the healthcare center is heady by the Chairperson with a team of counselors, Paramedical staff, and medical officers.
