Guru Nanak Dev University is a Government State University located in Amritsar, Punjab, established in 1969 the university is accredited with Grade "A" by National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Guru Nanak Dev University offers various UG, PG, and Doctoral Programs such as B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Pharm, B.Planning, B.A.LLB, BTTM, BHMCT, M.Arch, and many more courses.
Guru Nanak University (GNDU) also offers distance education programs in various Undergraduate, Post Graduate, Diploma, and Post Graduate Diploma courses under the department of the Directorate of Open and Distance Learning. The admissions into the distance learning programs/courses are granted on the basis of the score/percentage in the last qualifying examinations, University does not conduct any Entrance Test for the admission procedure.

For B.Tech
Admissions in B.Tech courses are based on the AIR JEE Main Entrance exam or University-based Entrance test. Candidates must hold a passing certificate of 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for AT/SC) in Physics, Chemistry, Maths along with English subjects.
For B.Tech (Lateral Entry)
To take lateral entry in B.Tech course, the candidate must have completed 10+2 and must hold a Three-year Diploma degree from the State Technical Board, that too in Relevant subjects such as Computer Science Engineering/Information Technology or any equivalent specialization.
For B.Pharma
For Admission in B.Pharm Course, the candidate must have a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 (45% for ST/SC) conducted by state or central government authorities, Physics, Chemistry Mathematics or Biology are the mandatory subjects in 10+2 to be eligible for the course. The final selection is based on the University-entrance test conducted by the department.
For M.Tech
For MBA
For the M.B.A program, the candidate must have done a bachelor's in any relevant subject with at least a minimum aggregate percentage of 50% (45% for SC/ST).
For Admission in 5-year Integrated M.B.A Program (FYIC), the candidate must have completed his/her 10+2 with at least 50% (45% for SC/ST) marks. M.B.A. Admissions are completely based on the candidate's performance in the University Entrance Test.
For B.Arch
For the B.Arch course, the minimum eligibility is 10+2 with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in Physics, Chemistry, and maths subjects along with a valid score in NATA entrance. Admissions into B. The arch course is based on the candidate's NATA score combined with the last qualifying examination score.
For Ph.D
Admissions in Ph.D. courses are also based on the University-Entrance test merit list. The minimum eligibility requirement for enrolling in P.h.D program is UGC NET/UGC-CSIR (JRF)/SLET/GATE/GPAT/ ICAR/INSPIRE/M.Phil from G.N.D.U./Direct Fellowship Awardees/ Qualifying GNDU Ph.D. Eligibility with Validity Certificate of Test in a particular subject is exempted from Ph.D. Eligibility Test.
For M.Pharma
For admission in the M.Pharma course, the candidate must have scored at least 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST) in B.Pharma examinations and must hold a B.Pharm degree from a recognized Indian University. The final selection will be done on the basis of the G-PAT score or the University-based Entrance Test.
Candidates need to follow the given steps to apply for admission in the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

2. Click on the "Admission" tab, then click on the tab "New Registration" option.
3. now you will. be redirected to another page. Now, enter your "Email Id" and "Aadhar No.", at the bottom the page will ask that "if You have already studied/studying any degree, diploma, certificate, etc from GNDU or its affiliated college or center, etc."
4. Click on "No", now fill in the other details like "Previous board/university, Previous roll no. etc. After that click on "Fetch details"
5. Complete the registration, after that, you will receive a verification email or SMS.
6. Now log in using the credentials and fill the application form carefully.
7. After completing the application form filling, submit the application by paying the application fee using any online payment method, candidates can also pay the application fee either in offline mode via HDFC bank or university cash counter.
8. Candidates who are seeking admission through the University-Entrance test need to download their admit cards from their registered account and appear in the exam.
9. The results and merit list of the same exam will be announced on the official website of the university.
10. Qualified candidates will have to appear in the university counseling session on the given date.
11. After the counseling process, the university will announce the list of the candidates on the official website.
The T&P cell of the university is also responsible for providing its students with regular internship opportunities and Industrial Training programs. In 2024 more than 831 students were successfully placed in eminent organizations during the campus placement program. In 2024 the rate of placement was a little bit low as compared to other academic years due to the Covid-19 outbreak, only 553 students were successfully placed and the Highest package offered is Rs 13.5 L.P.A by Amazon. The average package offered during the 2024 placement program was Rs 3.8 L.P.A

Guru Nanak Dev University has 7 hostels 3 for Boys and 4 for girls. Each hostel has facilitated all basic amenities required for the comfortable and healthy living of the students. The below is the list of the Hostels of the University.
1. Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Boys Hostel-I- The hostel has the capacity to accommodate more than 700 students at a time.
2. Sahibzada Zoravar Singh Boys Hostel - The intake capacity of this hostel is 550.
3. Boys Hostel -III has an accommodation capacity for 300 students in 90 rooms spread over four-story-high interconnected blocks.
4. Mata Nanaki Girls Hostel I- There are 179 rooms available in this hostel with an intake capacity of 470 girls. The accommodation offered includes two seated, four seated, and five seated rooms.
5. Mata Nanaki Girls Hostel -II - provides accommodation to almost 630 students in 232 rooms divided into 6 different blocks with two seated, three seated, four seated, and five seated rooms available.
6. Mata Nanki Girls Hostel III- the hostel provides accommodation to 761 Students in 255 ventilated rooms and divided in 6-story high interconnected blocks.
7. Mata Nanaki Girls Hostel IV- This hostel provides accommodation to nearly 600 Postgraduate, P.h.D, M.Phil students in 420 rooms. Besides, to accommodate more students, one more block is added.
