UGC NET Exam Pattern 2024

UGC NET Exam Pattern 2024: Candidates who are going to appear in UGC NET 2024 exam must prepare well to qualify for the exam. And in order to have solid preparation for the exam, the candidate needs to understand the UGC NET Exam Pattern 2024. Apart from the exam pattern, the candidate must know the marking scheme to build an effective exam strategy. 

UGC NEt Exam pattern

The UGC NET Exam pattern is designed by National Testing Agency and it is released by NTA along with the detailed notification of the exam. Candidates can check the NTA NET Exam Pattern on the official website of the exam. 

UGC NET Exam Pattern 2024:

The UGC NET Exam 2024 is divided into two papers - Paper I & Paper II. Paper I consist of a total of 50 questions and Paper II consists of 100 questions. Each question asked in the UGC NET Exam 2024 will carry a weightage of 2 marks and there is no negative marking for the wrong answer. 

The duration of the UGC NET Exam 2024 is 3 hours which means a total time of 3 hours will be given to the candidates to solve both papers. Please note that both Paper I and Paper II will be held consecutively without any interval and candidates will be allowed to take any amount of time to any paper however you have to complete both of these papers within 3 hours.

Mode of UGC NET Exam:

The UGC National Eligibility Test is a computer-based test (CBT) and hence it will be held Online mode, however, the candidates need to be present at the examination center to appear in this exam. 

UGC Exam Pattern 2024 -Types Of Questions 

Candidates should know that only objective-type questions will be asked in UGC NET Exam 2024. The MCQ-type questions will comprise 4 options and the candidate will have to choose one correct option. Candidates who wish to qualify for both Lectureship and JRF have to appear in both of the papers (Paper I & Paper II).

UGC NET 2024 - No. of Questions 

The entire UGC NET Exam 2024 will comprise of total 150 questions, Paper I will consist of 50 questions and Paper II will have 100 questions. Hence total no. of questions in the UGC NET Exam is 150. 

UGC NET Exam Pattern 2024- Total Marks 

The UGC NET Exam will be a maximum of 300 marks. Each question asked in the exam will carry 2 marks and since paper, I will have 50 questions, so Paper I will be 100 marks. A total of 100 questions will be asked in paper II, so the total weightage of the UGC NET Paper II Exam is 200 marks. Hence the UGC NET total marks will be 300.

UGC NET Paper I Exam Pattern:

Appearing in UGC NET Paper I is responsible for all the applicants, It is a common paper for all candidates who have applied for Assistant Professor eligibility and JRF. The UGC NET Paper I 2024 will have a total of 10 sections which are: Teaching Aptitude, Reading Comprehension, Communication, Research Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Reasoning, Information & Communication Technology, Higher Education System: Governance, Polity & Administration, People & Environment. Each of the 10 sections will consist of 5 questions and questions will carry 2 marks each.

UGC NET Paper II Exam Pattern:

The UGC NET Paper II 2024 will be a subject-specific exam as it will be based on the subject chosen by the candidate during the application process. UGC NET Marking Scheme:

NTA uses a uniform marking pattern to evaluate the marks of the applicants in UGC NET Exam 2024. According to the revised UGC NET Exam pattern, no negative marking scheme will be followed for the exam. Candidates who do not know the answer to any question can attempt the question by making a guess as there won't be any negative marking for incorrect attempts.
