The selection process of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions begins with the declaration of merit list which is prepared on the basis of various factors. The selection is done on the basis of marks scored by the candidate and as per the merit list.

The selection of candidates for admission in B.Tech colleges is done on the basis of marks secured in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 10+2. Further, the marks secured are reduced to 200 with mathematics as 100 and both Physics and Chemistry combined as 100 marks.
Normalization of Marks: In the normalization method the highest marks scored by the student in the relevant subject in Tamil Nadu Board Exam are equated with the highest marks scored by the candidate in the same subject in the board examination of other states. After the normalization is completed, the qualified students will be merged on a common merit list.

The counseling process for Engineering Admissions in the state of Tamil Nadu will start in the month of July. Before this candidate must register for admission and pay the counseling fee. Students can start the choice of filling option in the second week of July 2025. Further TNEA Exam will conduct four rounds for the counseling and seat allotment.
Below we have mentioned the different stages which the counseling process involves:
After completing the payment the online registration form will be activated where candidates are required to fill their personal and academic details. Candidates who are filling out the registration form at the facilitation center must carry the documents so the computer operator can fill all the details carefully.
After filling up all the required details, check all the entered details in the online application form before clicking the ‘Submit Button. After submitting the form successfully take a printout of the registration form.
After filling the registration form a random number will be generated which will be mentioned in the registration form. It will be helpful during the certification verification and tie-breaking.
After completing the registration candidates must visit the nearest facilitation center for the certificate verification. After reaching the center the candidate must register with their name and the registration random number that is printed on the registration form printout. After that, the candidates will be called accordingly for the verification of documents.
After the completion of the certificate verification process, the authority will release a merit list that comprises the name of the candidates, category, rank, and normalized score.
For filling the choices the candidates must visit the official website of TNEA Exam and fill the option entry form. The list of colleges, cutoff, opening, and closing rank will be published on the official website of TNEA and the candidates are advised to fill the options after referring to the cutoff and rank considering/her own marks in mind.
