WB TET 2024: WB TET Exam is conducted by the West Bengal Central School Service Commission, whose aim is to shortlist candidates to teach in the schools of West Bengal. The WB TET Exam is conducted as per the guidelines given by the National Council of Teachers Education (NCTE).

West Bengal teacher eligibility test (WB TET)  comprises 150 multiple-choice questions that candidates need to attend within 90 minutes duration of time. WB TET 2024 Exam comprises two papers per. Paper-1 is given by candidates who want to teach class 1st to 5th and paper II is given by the candidates who want to teach the upper primary classes. 

It is compulsory for B.Ed qualified candidates to crack the WB TET Exam 2024 to be considered for teaching jobs in the schools run by the government and private management in West Bengal.

The selection of candidates for  vacancies available in the teaching post is done as per the criteria given below:

Eligibility Criteria For WB TET 2024 Exam:

The applicants must fulfil the criteria as prescribed by NCTE to be eligible to appear for the WB TET examination. Below we have mentioned the following criteria which a candidate must satisfy.

  • At least 50 % marks in Senior Secondary/ Higher Secondary (i.e 10 +2) and 2 year diploma in Elementary Education (DEIEd).
  • At least 50 % marks in Senior Secondary/ Higher Secondary (i.e 10 +2) and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEIEd).
  • At least 50 % marks in Senior Secondary/ Higher Secondary (i.e 10 +2) and having Diploma in Education (Special Education) which should be recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
  • Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DEIEd).

Note: For the SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PH, Exempted Category, ex-serviceman and DH (Death-in-harness) category candidates- 5% relaxation of marks will be allowed in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination 10+2 (ie 45%).

WB TET Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teachers (Class V - Viii):

Candidates are eligible for the WB TET Examination if they have:

  • Cleared their BSc/BA or equivalent education
  • Cleared their BEd/Secondary education exam with a minimum of 50% marks
  • Qualified the final four years Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEIEd)
  • Appearing in final two years BSc/ BA/ Diploma in Education and clear the exam with at least 45% marks

As prescribed by the NCTE aspirants should have the following educational qualifications:

For Teachers of Classes l to Vth (Paper- l)

Candidates should have passed intermediate (or its equivalent) with at least 45 percent marks. Those appearing in the final 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed) / 2-year Diploma in Special Education are also available / 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education are also eligible for this exam. Or Candidates with at least 50% marks in BA / B.Sc. and B.Ed qualification can also apply.

For Teachers of Classes Vl -Vll (Paper- ll)

Candidates should have passed intermediate (or its equivalent) with at least 45 percent marks. Applicants having B.A / B.Sc and those appearing in final 2-year D.Ed / B.A / B.Sc with at least 45 % marks and passed/ appearing in B.Ed / Senior Secondary with minimum 50 % marks and passed or appearing in final 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed) / 4 year BA / B.Sc. or B.A (Ed.) / B.Ed. (Special Education) with 50 % in BA or B.Sc are eligible for WBSSC TET.

Step 1: Fill the WB TET Registration Form 2024
