The SBI PO Exam Pattern for the SBI PO exam is released by the State bank of India every year. The SBI PO Exam comprises a total of 3 levels - Prelims, Mains & Group Discussion, and Personal Interview. Those aspirants who are looking forward to the exam have to complete all these 3 rounds. The first two phases -- Phase I (Prelims) and Phase II (Main) are organized in Online Mode (Computer Based Test).
The first phase -Prelims comprise of MCQ type of questions whereas the second phase - Mains will be on 2 levels where level 1 will be MCQ’s and Level 2 will have descriptive type questions. Marks will be deducted for every wrong answer in both the exams. The aspirants who qualify for both Phases I and Phase II will fulfill the SBI PO eligibility criteria and can appear in GD and Personal Interview for the final SBI PO recruitment process. Every Section is facilitated with Hindi and English Questions except for the English Language test.

The phase I exam (Prelims) will be held in an online mode and will include 3 sections - English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. This is considered as the qualifying examination. The candidates who will clear this paper will be eligible to appear for SBI Mains. There is a negative marking in the SBI PO prelims Exam of 0.25 marks that is deducted for every wrong answer. State Bank of India has limited the exam time per section to 20 minutes as mentioned below.

Candidates who get the required marks and clear the cutoffs set by the State Bank of India can proceed to the second phase of the SBI PO 2025 examination. SBI PO 2025 Main Examination will hold Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both these tests will be held in an online mode, therefore, candidates will have to answer the questions on the computer. Directly after the completion of the Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be conducted.
The objective test will be of 3 hours duration consisting of 4 Sections for a total of 200 marks. The objective test will have different timings for each section. For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. The applicants are required to qualify in each of the Tests.

Time-duration of the Descriptive Test is 30 minutes for 50 marks. There will be an English Language test (Letter Writing & Essay). Two questions will be asked in this section - one for Essay writing and the other being letter writing. The qualifier is based on passing marks in the Descriptive Test decided by the Bank. Once the SBI PO 2025 Mains Exam is concluded the Merit List will be prepared by SBI. The List will be sorted by highest marks to lowest qualifying marks. Candidates with the Highest Marks will be given priority in GD and Personal Interview.
The Candidate's aggregate marks for qualifying in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category. An adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank, based on the SBI PO vacancies available, will be called for Group Exercises and Interview.
Candidates who qualify for Group Exercises & Interview under the 'OBC' category are recommended to submit their OBC certificate holding the 'Non-Creamy layer' clause. Candidates who have not submitted the OBC certificate and are urged to be examined under the OBC category will not be entertained.
