RRB NTPC Exam 2024:

The Railway Recruitment Board Non-Technical Popular Categories exam is held to fill up the vacant positions in the Indian Railways. This examination is conducted at a gap of 2 years and aims to fill up the vacancies in the Graduate and Undergraduate positions in the  Zonal and Production Units of the Indian Railways.

More than 1 crore applicants register for the RRB NTPC Exam and the selected candidates get appointed to fill up about 35000 vacant Nontechnical categories for the Indian Railways. The main purpose of the exam is to test the abilities of the candidates for General Awareness and Current Affairs.

The Application and the fee payment process of the RRB NTPC Test takes place online and the examination is a Computer Based Test (CBT). The Registration process of the Railway Board Recruitment exam usually takes place during the month of March and any change in schedule is notified by the authorities on their official website.

A preliminary exam or the Common eligibility test (CET) is conducted by the National Recruitment Agency to select the candidates and the advanced selection process is done by the Railway Recruitment Board.

What is the RRB NTPC eligibility criteria?

The candidates applying for the RRB NTPC selection exam must fulfill the eligibility criteria regarding their Age, Nationality, Educational Qualification, Computer Typing skills, and Medical fitness. Those candidates who complete the required eligibility criteria can apply for the RRB NTPC Exams.

Given below is a summary of the Eligibility Criteria for the RRB NTPC Candidates:

  • The candidates applying for the undergraduate posts should be between the age group of 18 to 33 years.
  • Candidates who apply for the undergraduate posts should complete their Class 12 Board exams from a recognized Institute.
  • Candidates applying for the Graduate posts should complete their Graduation from a recognized College or University.
  • Candidates must be proficient in typing in English and Hindi.
  • Candidates must qualify for the physical fitness exam that is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board

Nationality of the candidate:

  • Candidates must be a citizen of India.
  • Candidates can be a citizen of Nepal and Bhutan.
  • The candidate can be a resident of Tibet who has settled in India before 1st January 1962.
  • A resident of Pakistan, Zambia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Uganda, Sri Lanka, or Tanzania who has settled in India permanently.

The age limit of the candidate for the RRB NTPC Exam:

The candidate must have the following documents as proof for their age limit:

  • Marksheet or Certificate of Class 10 Board exams from a recognized Institute.
  • Candidates must enter the correct age details in the Application form. Age details of the candidates cannot be changed once the Application Form has been processed.
  • Age relaxation is valid only for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC categories.
  • There is no age relaxation for the candidates applying for the unreserved categories.
  • Candidates should have a valid certificate as proof for their claim of age relaxation.

Educational qualification of the candidate for RRB NTPC Exam:

For Undergraduate Posts:

  • Candidates should qualify for the 12th Board or equivalent exam from a recognized Institute.
  • Candidates should get 50% marks in the 12th Board.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Ex-Serviceman category need not get 50% marks.

For Graduate Posts:

  • Candidates should get a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or College.
  • Candidates applying for the position of Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist/ Senior Clerk cum Typist/ Senior Time Keeper/ Station Master/ Commercial cum Ticket Clerk/Junior Clerk cum Typist must have a Computer typing proficiency in Hindi/English
Important Facts of the RRB NTPC Recruitment Exams:
  • Only those candidates who have qualified for their Class 12 Board Exams can apply for the Railway Recruitment Board exams.
  • Diploma holders or Graduate Act Apprentices do not fall under the RRB NTPC eligibility category.
  • Candidates who have completed Distance Education must be 18 years of age at the time of admission and got admission to the 3 year Degree program through an entrance-based exam.
