NEET PG (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) is an entrance-based examination test, held all over India, for students who wish to have a bright future at the postgraduate level in MD/MS and PG diploma courses. The Exam is held once a year in January and is a computer-based test. Students qualifying for the entrance exam will be eligible for further counselling processes. NEET has substituted the AIPGMEE (All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination) and DNB CET,  in the opinion of the Supreme Court Directive.

Updated Features in NEET 2026

  • The question paper will be divided into 3 sections - Section A, Section B, and Section C covering 50, 100, and 150 questions, sequentially.
  • Last year, the exam was held in 129 cities but this year NBE (National Board of Examination) has added 19 new NEET PG exam cities, which makes a total of 148 trial cities.
  • There has been a substitution in the NEET PG exam this year with new timings scheduled from 03:30 PM to 07:00 PM.
  • A change has been made in the tie-making method to determine the NEET PG Exam merit list 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET PG 2026

  • Applicants need to ensure that they meet the NEET PG 2026 eligibility criteria before they fill out the application form for the exam.
  • Applicants are required to hold a recognized master's degree (MBBS).
  • According to the eligibility norms of NEET PG Exam 2026, a one-year internship by March 31, 2026, is required.
  • According to the NEET PG 2026 eligibility criteria, applicants are required to carry their Aadhar card.
  • Applicants must possess a provisional/permanent registration certificate issued by the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council.

The entrance exam for NEET PG is conducted once a year in the month of January. The registration form for the same is available 2 months before the exams. A demo test is conducted one month before the exam, in order to make the candidates familiar with the syllabus and exam pattern.
