APTET Exam Pattern: The APTET Exam follows a specific Andhra Pradesh TET Exam Pattern that comprises two papers. Paper, I is subjected to the candidates who are tending to appear for the primary teachers (Class I to Class V) whereas paper II is subjected to the teachers who aspire to become teachers at the upper primary level (Class- VI to Class VIII). The examination paper for APTET Exam is objective-based and the time duration for appearing in the exam is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
In paper I there are subjects like Child Development and Pedagogy (consisting of 30 questions), Language I (consisting of 30 questions), Language II (Consisting of 30 questions), Mathematics (Consisting of 30 questions), and Environmental Studies (Consisting of 30 questions). Therefore, there are a total number of 150 questions in paper I, carrying a total of 150 marks.
In paper II (A), there are subjects like Language I (Consisting of 30 questions), Language II (English) (Consisting of 30 questions), Child development and pedagogy (Consisting of 30 questions), and mathematics and Science or Social Studies (consisting of 60 questions). Therefore, Paper-II also consists of a total of 150 questions carrying 150 marks.
In paper II (B), there are subjects like Physical education Pedagogy (Consisting of 30 questions), Language I (Consisting of 10 questions), Language II (English) (Consisting of 10 questions), and physical Education (Consisting of 100 questions). The sections comprise the respective bifurcation for the physical education teachers with a total of 150 questions in paper II (B), carrying a total of 150 marks where 1 mark is awarded for each correct question.
The APTET Exam follows a particular pattern and it is advisable for the students to consider going through the pattern of the exam thoroughly, before appearing for the exam. The languages that are offered under the subject, Language I according to the syllabus of the state are Urdu, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Oriya, and Tamil. The candidate applying for the exam is supposed to choose one of the available 6 languages in Language I for the exam.
The candidates should have taken the respective chosen subject either as a medium of study or studied the subject as a compulsory subject up till class 10th. If the candidate belongs to CBSE or ICSE curriculum then they can take the subject they have taken as the medium of their study.
The subject Language II is supposed to be English for all the candidates. The basic syllabus that the APTET Exam Pattern 2024 will cover for Language I and Language II would be the aspects like the elements of language, proficiency in the language, communication, and comprehension abilities with a standard up to secondary level education. Under both languages, I and language II, out of 30 questions each, 24 questions (MCQ) would incorporate content-based questions and the rest 6 questions would be based on Pedagogy on language.
The subject, Child Development, and pedagogy would comprise the aspects of Educational Psychology of Teaching and Learning that is relevant to the primary level. The APTET Syllabus for Mathematics and Environmental Studies would be based on the topics of class I to V along with some standards linked to the course of the second class (upto class 10th). Both in mathematics and environmental studies, there would be 24 questions (MCQ) that would be based on content and the rest 6 questions would be based upon pedagogy.

The candidate applying for the exam is supposed to choose one of the available 8 languages in Language I for the exam. The candidates should have taken the respective chosen subject either as a medium of study or studied the subject as a compulsory subject up till class 10th.
The candidate applying for physical education teacher is supposed to choose one of the 5 languages available that is Telugu, Urdu, Tamil, Oriya, and Kannada for Language I in paper II (B). The language teachers have to choose the language of their study in the pandit training for Language I. For language II, the language shall be English.
The syllabus for Language I & II for Paper-II (A) should be on the aspects such as Elements of Language, proficiency of the language, the communication & comprehension abilities (Consisting of the standard up to class 12th).
The syllabus for the physics teacher in Language I and II would be based upon the Elements of Language, Proficiency of Language, Communication, and comprehension abilities, consisting of standards up to class 7th. There will be 10 questions in language I and II each, based on content.
The candidate who possesses a teacher education course-related certificate or is in their final year of the respective course and also acquires at least 50% marks in their intermediate or senior secondary exam fulfills the respective eligibility criteria.
In the case of ST, SC, Differently Abled, or any other reserved classes, the minimum marks acquired should be 45% in the senior secondary course. Moreover, the candidate should have pursued a 2-year diploma course in elementary education or a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education.
OR
The candidates who have acquired a minimum of 45% marks in their senior secondary exam and have a 2-year diploma in elementary education or a 4-year bachelor of elementary education, fulfill the eligibility criteria. In the case of ST, SC, Differently Abled, or any other reserved classes, the candidate should have at least 40% marks in their senior secondary along with fulfilling the requirement of the respective degree mentioned.
The candidates who are applying for mathematics, science, or social science teacher are required to have 50% marks in graduation in any subject and should have passed in Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) Course. In case, if the candidate is SC, ST, PH, or among any other reserved classes, the minimum marks required can be 40%.
OR
The candidates who are applying for mathematics, science, or social science teacher are required to have 4 years B.A.ED./ B.SC.Ed. degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Those candidates who belong to SC/ST/PH/BCor any other reserved classes are required to have scored a minimum of 45% marks in the respective subject.
