WBPSC Eligibility Criteria 2024:

Nationality 

• Candidates must be a citizen of India.
• Candidates must fluently read, write and speak in bengali.

Age Limit

Minimum Age Limit

• Group A and Group C- 21 years
• Group B- 20 years (For West Bengal Police Service)
• Group D- 21 years

Maximum Age Limit (as on 1st January of the year of exam)

• Group A- 36 years
• Group B- 36 years
• Group C- 36 years
• Group D- 39 years

Please note- The age of the candidate will be as mentioned in the Secondary Exam (Madhyamik)/equivalent Certificate. The age limit is applicable to all the candidates whether they are in Government service or not.

Age Relaxation

The West Bengal Government allows age relaxation for candidates belonging to the reserved categories.

• SC/ST/BC (West Bengal)- 5 years
• SC/ST (Other states)- 5 years
• OBC- 3 years
• Person with disabilities- Upto 45 years

Academic Qualification

• Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from a recognized University.
• Candidates must be able to speak and read in Bengali (not applicable to candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali).

Special Eligibility Criteria for some Services of WBPSC Recruitment 2024

West Bengal Police Service (Group B)

• Minimum height for male candidates- 1.65 meters.
• Minimum height for female candidates- 1.50 meters.
• Height relaxation applicable to candidates belonging to races like Gurkhas, Garwhalis and Assamese Tribes.

West Bengal Junior Social Welfare Service

• Diploma/Certificate in training of blind/deaf/dumb.

Assistant Canal Revenue Officer

• Job profile will require the candidate to work in remote areas in the villages.
• Candidates have to use bicycles as means of transport to attend Tehsil/Zila offices.

West Bengal Subordinate Land Revenue Service

• Provisional admission for all the candidates with 6 months compulsory in-service training.
• Must be fluent in writing and speaking in Bengali.
• In-service training will include subjects like cadastral survey, revenue laws, record of rights, elementary instructions in all other laws.
• Candidates who do not qualify the in-service training exam can be discharged from service without any prior notice.

Important details of the WBPSC Eligibility Criteria 2024

• Candidates can apply for one or multiple areas of service in the WBPSC exam.
• Candidates who get selected in the WBPSC Main exam have to appear for the Personality test.
• The selection of the candidates will be merit based and the total number of vacant posts.
• Fee exemption is not allowed for any candidate.
• Candidates must mention their preference for a particular post or service in the application form. It must be noted that candidates will not be selected for a post or service if they do not mention it in the Application form even if they are eligible for that post or service.
• All groups will have the same Personality test after qualifying the WBPSC Main Exam.
