UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025

The UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025 is based on the pattern of the IAS Exam. There are three stages in the UPPSC Selection process as mentioned in the UPPSC Exam Application Process. The UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025 for all the two stages of the exam, that is UPPSC Exam Prelims and UPPSC Exam Mains is provided below, along with the pattern of the interview.

UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025 Prelims

The Prelims is the first stage of the UPPSC selection process. UPPSC conducts the prelims exam across the State of Uttar Pradesh. The exam is conducted in an offline mode and around eight lakh candidates appear in this exam. The trends of this paper are usually general Knowledge-based questions.

UPPSC 2025 Mains Exam Pattern

It is a written exam and is conducted in an offline mode. The candidates should know that the new exam pattern of the UPPSC Exam Pattern for the Mains exam is four general studies papers (Previously there were two General Studies papers), along with an Ethics Paper.

UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025: Personality Test (Viva Voce)

  • The personality test is the last third stage of the UPPSC Exam Selection Process.
  • The Commission has assigned around 100 marks specifically for this personality test.
  • The questions asked in this stage are related to the Current Events and Detail Application Form (DAF) filled at the time of the UPPSC Mains Exam.
  • After this stage is completed, the UPPSC Exam Results are declared with a cut off list with the names of the selected candidates.

There are no set UPPSC Exam Pattern for the Interview, however, there are certain things the candidate needs to keep in mind.

  • The original documents related to the academic qualification such as class 10th mark sheets, the professional experience should be with the students at the time of the interview.
  • The vacancy of the students who pass from the Prelims and head over to the final stage of the interview have reduced to the ratio of thirteen. Earlier the ratio was 18 times, and now the passouts of the UPPSC Exam Mains will be double than it was before.

The PCS exam pattern for UPPSC Prelims 2025 is given in the table below:

Negative Marking There will be a 0.33% negative marking for every incorrect answer, as per the new UPPSC exam pattern.
For e.g., if the maximum marks allotted for a question is 3, then answering it incorrectly would incur a penalty of 0.99 marks
Filling multiple circles on the OMR sheet for the same question would be treated as an incorrect answer.
There is no negative marking for leaving a question empty.
