The UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025 is based on the pattern of the IAS Exam. There are three stages in the UPPSC Selection process as mentioned in the UPPSC Exam Application Process. The UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025 for all the two stages of the exam, that is UPPSC Exam Prelims and UPPSC Exam Mains is provided below, along with the pattern of the interview.
The Prelims is the first stage of the UPPSC selection process. UPPSC conducts the prelims exam across the State of Uttar Pradesh. The exam is conducted in an offline mode and around eight lakh candidates appear in this exam. The trends of this paper are usually general Knowledge-based questions.
It is a written exam and is conducted in an offline mode. The candidates should know that the new exam pattern of the UPPSC Exam Pattern for the Mains exam is four general studies papers (Previously there were two General Studies papers), along with an Ethics Paper.

Negative Marking | There will be a 0.33% negative marking for every incorrect answer, as per the new UPPSC exam pattern. For e.g., if the maximum marks allotted for a question is 3, then answering it incorrectly would incur a penalty of 0.99 marks Filling multiple circles on the OMR sheet for the same question would be treated as an incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for leaving a question empty. |
