TSTET Exam 2020: Introduction

✍ The state of Telangana in India conducts the Telangana State Eligibility Test (TSTET) under the supervision of the Department of School Education, State Government of Telangana. The first-ever TSTET Exam was held in the year 2017, in the month of July. 

✍ This test mainly focuses on testing the abilities for students who wish to be appointed as teachers, Assistant Professor and Lecturer in Telangana universities and colleges. The TSTET Exam is a state-level test for the post of teachers in the state of Telangana, and it is conducted in online mode through computer-based mode. 

✍ The TSTET exam is conducted for the maintenance of quality standards across the state, in terms of education, staff, and academics, etc. It sets benchmarks and national standards across educational establishments and institutions and keeps improving the education of the state and the country.

TSTET Exam 2020 Notification:

The Department of School Education and Government of Telangana is going to announce the TS TET Notification 2020 for TSTET Notification Exam 2020. More than 2.5 Lakh students are eagerly waiting for their eligibility in TSTET Exam 2020. Right now the School Education Department of Telangana has delayed it’s an announcement of notification due to COVID-19 Pandemic. When everything will be resolved they will release the notifications.

A candidate can attempt this exam for ‘n’ number of times as there is no restriction to the number of attempts for acquiring the TET Certificate. Candidates who have passed but are not satisfied with their performance can also re-appear for improving his or her score. 

TSTET will be conducted in online mode this year. The official dates and notification regarding the exam will be published around the month of June. Since this exam is conducted after the completion of B.Ed and D.Ed, the exam is usually conducted in the month of July. 

TSTET 2020 Types of Paper:

The TSTET is usually conducted in two papers, which are Paper-1 and Paper-2 respectively. 

  • Paper-1  is usually conducted for candidates who want to qualify as teachers for the classes I to V. 
  • Paper -2 is conducted for candidates who wish to be qualified teachers for the classes VI-VIII. 
  • Also, the candidates who wish to become qualified teachers for the classes I to VIII will have to appear for both the papers. 

The candidates who wish to apply for the TSTET in the year 2020, must have completed or should be in their final year of any Teacher Education Course, such as B.Ed, M.Ed, D.Ed, etc. The course they are pursuing or have completed should be recognized by the NCTE or the RCI. In short, All the candidates who possess a qualification in B.Ed or D.El.Ed or equivalent are eligible to apply for the TSTET 2020 exam. 

The TSTET is usually conducted in the month of July in all the State districts of Telangana. The duration for the Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test is usually for 2.5 hours.


It starts first from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon.


It starts at 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. 

There are about 31 Districts in the Telangana State. The candidate can choose any district to appear for the exam. If the district of your choice is not displayed in the list of examination centres, on the official website, then chances are that the particular examination district has exhausted his capacity and that there are no available seats. The candidate must choose another district to appear for the exam. 

TSTET Exam 2020 Process

Step 1: Pay TSTET Registration Fee

Firstly, before filling the TSTET registration form, applicants are required to submit the registration fee. Applicants can pay the fee online through the payment gateway. On successful payment, a registration number will be issued to the applicant which will help him/her to proceed further for the submission of the form.

Step 2: Fill TSTET Registration Form

After fee payment, candidates can start filling the registration form on the official website of the exam.

Candidates are required to have the following documents to fill-up details:

  • Scanned image of the latest photo in JPEG format.
  • Scanned image of signature in JPEG format.
  • Copy of Class X certificate.

After filling all the details successfully, candidates are advised to keep a hard copy of the registration, i.e confirmation copy. It is also important to keep the reference ID number or registration number for future reference. Once the reference ID number is received the registration process will be complete.

Step 3: Download Admit Card

TSTET Admit Card is a mandatory document to be carried in the exam centre. Candidates can download it from the official website of TSTET. 

Step 4: Appear for the examination

After downloading the admit card, candidates need to appear for the TSTET exam. Candidates can report at the exam centre 30 minutes before the commencement. Candidates reaching the exam after the commencement may not be allowed to write the test paper.
