NEET UG 2020


The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) is a single entrance examination after intermediate for the science students who want to pursue a medical course (MBBS) or dental course (BDS) in India.  From 2020 onwards, NEET UG will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) approved by the Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India. Till now, it was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The application forms for NEET UG Exam 2020 were released by NTA on the 1st of November, 2019 and was available till 7th December,2018. This year the examination has been scheduled for 5th May 2019 in offline (pen-paper) mode and will be conducted in a single shift. There is a big relief for the thousands of medical aspiring students as the Supreme Court allowed UG medical aspirants of 25 years or above to appear in NEET 2020 exam. However, the apex court said that their admission will be subjected to the final outcome of the case on the validity of CBSE’s decision to fix the upper age limit.

  • The exam cities for the conduction of NEET 2019 have been increased from 136 to 154 cities of the country. The aspirants are required to fill the city of their choice for NEET 2019 exam as per their preference. They will be provided with an option to choose any four cities as their exam cities.
  • The NTA has provided the facility of NEET test practice centres for the ease and practice of candidates from rural areas.  It will be conducted for three hours, tests the knowledge of 10+2 students in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. After qualifying the exam, the candidates are required to appear in the counselling process for admission procedure which will be conducted at the national and state levels.
NEET UG 2019 Eligibility Criteria:-

According to the NEET 2019 eligibility criteria, a candidate is required to complete 17 years of age either at the time of admission or before December 31, 2019. The eligibility criteria of NEET 2019 will specify the age limit, academic qualifications, nationality and other mandatory requirements which must be met by all the examination appearing candidates.

Academic QualificationsThe candidates must qualify Class 10 + 2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as a core subject to appear in NEET 2019 from a recognized board.
Minimum Age RequiredThe minimum age limit of the candidate must be 17 years as on 31st December 2019.
Maximum Age LimitThe unreserved category candidates can be  25 years of age or more whereas 30 years of age is maximum for reserved and PWD category candidates.

Qualifying Marks

The candidates must have scored an aggregate of:

  • 50% for unreserved.
  • 45% for PWD and
  • 40% for Reserved candidates in Physics, Biology, and Chemistry subjects in aggregate.
Maximum AttemptsThe candidates can give NEET UG exams as many times they want to. There is no limit on the number of attempts of the examination.
