IRDA Exam Pattern

The IRDA Exam 2025 will be held in 3 stages:

  • Prelims exam
  • Mains exam
  • Interview round

The exam pattern is set by the conducting authority and applicants must be familiar with the exam pattern in order to perform well in the IRDA exam. The IRDA Exam pattern 2025 consists of important details like the total number of questions, total marks of the exam, marks allotted to each section, and total time of the exam.

IRDA Exam Pattern 2025 for Assistant Manager

Stage I - Prelims Exam

  • The IRDA Prelims exam is qualifying in nature and the marks will not be taken into consideration for the final selection process.
  • The Prelims exam consists of objective-type questions.
  • The languages of the exam are Hindi and English (except for the English language section).
  • 1 mark is allotted for each correct answer and ¼ mark is deducted for every wrong attempt.
  • The Prelims exam consists of 4 sections- General awareness, Reasoning, Quantitative aptitude, and English language.
  • The total number of questions for each section is 40.
  • The total marks of the Prelims exam are 160.
  • The total duration of the exam is 90 minutes.

Stage II - Mains

  • The IRDA Exam pattern 2025 for Mains has descriptive questions.
  • The Mains exam has 3 sections- English, Insurance and Management, and Economic and social issues impacting Insurance.
  • The Mains paper will be considered for the final selection process.
  • Each section of the Mains paper has 100 marks.
  • The total mark for the Mains exam is 300.
  • The time allotted for each section is 60 minutes.
  • The total time for the IRDA Mains exam is 180 minutes or 3 hours.

Stage III - Interview

  • The Interview round or the Personality test is the final round of the IRDA Exam 2025.

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for the Interview round based on the marks obtained by them in 3 sections of the Prelims exam.

  • The final selection of the candidates for the Assistant Manager post will be based on the marks obtained in the Mains exam and the Interview round.
