Every year the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the examination IBPS PO (Probationary Officer)  for the selection of candidates who want to work in public sectors and Regional Banks spread across India.

IBPS has gained this reputation due to the capability to develop and construct Multiple Choice Objective-based tests that enable mass level testing programs. IBPS has the ability to conduct the examination simultaneously for lakhs of students in about 200 cities and towns, out of which IBPS PO is the most popular. Last year CWE PO/MT IX was conducted which was the ninth edition of this exam. 

IBPS PO exam 2020 enables the recruitment of probationary officers for the selection of candidates who want to work in public sectors and Regional Banks spread across India. IBPS conducts various bank exams. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has renamed the Bank PO exam as the Common Written Exam (CWE PO) in 2011.

Aspiring candidates who want to join as a Probationary Officer or in a similar post in that cadre are required to go through the Common Recruitment Process.

The examination will be held online in two phases: Preliminary and Main exam. Candidates who will qualify in the Preliminary exam will have to appear for the Main examination and after cracking the main exams shortlisted candidates will be called for a Common Interview which will be conducted by the Participating Organizations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank.

IBPS is an autonomous body that conducts the recruitment process every year as we have mentioned above. IBPS authority makes arrangements for conducting preliminary examinations online, after the declaration of result of online preliminary examination shortlisted candidates are informed about the online main examination and the candidates who have corrected the main examination are called upon for a common interview process.

IBPS PO Exam 2020: Notification

IBPS will release official notification on their website i.e. www.ibps.in for the post of PO. The candidates can check their exam date notifications, eligibility criteria, age limit, syllabus and much more or keep in touch with this article, here we will provide updates in the form of notifications as released by the official authority.

The IBPS PO Exam 2020 Notification is expected to be released in August 2020 with the available vacancies of 5000+.

The IBPS Bank PO exam 2020 is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection every year. This exam is a doorway for the most preferred bank jobs. Deserving candidates will be shortlisted for the post of PO for various nationalized banks listed under it. 

The registration for this examination will be done online, registration updates will be released along with the IBPS PO 2020 Notification. IBPS CWE IX prelims exam is going to be conducted on 03,04 and 10 October 2020.

IBPS PO Exam 2020: Eligibility Criteria

IBPS PO eligibility criteria are done on the set of guidelines in terms of Nationality, Age, Educational qualification and reservation Category. Candidates must ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria before filling up the application. According to IBPS PO eligibility criteria, 2020 candidates who have completed their graduation are eligible for this exam and can apply for it. Below we have mentioned all the eligibility criteria in detail.

The eligibility criteria for IBPS PO Exam 2020 are as follows:

  • Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be either-

  1. Citizen of India 
  2. Subject of Nepal
  3. Subject of Bhutan
  4. A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 and permanently settled in India.

Individuals who have migrated from Sri Lanka, Kenya,  Pakistan, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Zambia, and Vietnam belong to Indian origin and permanently settled in India.

Note: Candidates who belong to 2, 3, 4, 5 categories mentioned above most have a certificate of eligibility that has been issued by the government of India.

  • Age (As on 01/08/2020)

Minimum: 20 years

Maximum: 30 years

  • A candidate must be born between 02/08/1990 and 01/08/2000.
  • The relaxation of age is given for the reserved category candidates.

Educational Qualification:

  • All the educational qualifications should be recognized by the authorized university.
  • Candidates must possess proper documents issued by the recognized university mentioning the result has been declared by them. In case if the result is declared online, the certificate should be signed by the official authority which should be provided at the time of the interview.
  • Candidates should mention the final aggregate obtained in the graduation calculated to the nearest two decimals in the online registration form.


  • All the educational qualifications mentioned by a candidate should be from a Board/ Institution/ University recognized by the Govt. of India and approved by Govt. Regulatory Bodies and the final result should be declared before 04/09/2020.
  • Proper documents from the Board/ Institution/ University for the declaration of result should be submitted before 04/09/2020 at the time of the interview.
  • In case if the result of a particular examination is declared online on the official website of University or Institute then proper document/certificate is required by the appropriate authority. 

IBPS PO Exam Centre:

IBPS PO exam 2020 is conducted online across different centers all over India. Candidates have a choice to fill-up their preferences in an online application to choose the nearest center. If the seat is not available in the desired venue. In such a case IBPS will allot an exam center by itself and it can’t be changed further. Candidates are required to follow the guidelines given by IBPS during the examination.

IBPS PO Selection Process 2020:

The selection process of IBPS PO comprises of 3 phases:

  • Preliminary Exam 
  • Main Exam
  • Interview Round
  • Candidates who crack the Preliminary Exam will be eligible to appear in the main examination.
  • Similarly, candidates who crack the Main Exam will be required to appear in the Interview Round.
  • Finally, after clearing the Interview Round the candidates will be recruited as Probationary Officers in participating banks.
  • The registration form for all three phases is common, however, for each exam the admit card will be released separately.
