About IIT Patna

The Indian Institute of Patna or IIT Patna is one of the 8 new IITs  set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Developement, Government of India. Along with other IIT’s, IIT Patna is also an institution of National Importance( INL) and is ranked 33 by NIRF 2025 in the ;Engineering; category. It also has received many prestigious approvals like UGC and AICTE. It has a campus spread over an area of 501 acres, the IIT Patna campus is well-equipped with basic amenities for its students.

It also has a course in collaboration with the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1 year PG certificate in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence, IIT Patna offers BS, BTech, MTech, MSc and PhD courses across ten departments and various streams. IIT Patna was established on August 06, 2008.

IIT Patna currently has 10 departments: These are Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Humanities and Social Science departments.

According to the NIRF 2025 rankings, IIT Patna secured the  41st rank among the top engineering colleges in India. BTech is the most popular course at IIT Patna, admissions are done on the basis of JEE Advanced scores followed by JoSSA counseling.

IIT Patna campus is situated at Bihta which is approximately 40 kms from Patna. The Institute also has developed modern facilities that are fully equipped with the state-of-the art facilities that are routinely used to train and educate students in the following programs:

•  B.Tech in these five disciplines: Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering.
