About Delhi University

The three original constituent colleges of the university are St. Stephen's College - founded in 1881 by a Missionary Initiative called The Cambridge Mission to Delhi, The Hindu College - established in 1899, and Ramjas College - set up in 1977 by educationist and Philanthropist Raj Kedar Nath.

Ranked in the 2nd position among 91 Delhi University-affiliated colleges, Lady Shri Ram College for Women remains to be the center of excellence for the girls.

The college was established in memory of Sir Shri Ram's wife in the year 1956. This DU college is also accredited with an A+ grade by NAAC. Speaking of its history, the college was initially started in a shared school building at Dariyaganj but now is one of the pioneers of women's higher education in India.

LSR offers 16 courses in the disciplines of Arts, Commerce, and Science. The college has a long list of notable alumni namely Maneka Gandhi, Gauri Khan, Vinita Bali, Anasuya Sengupta, and many others.

St. Stephen's College

St. Stephen's College was established in the year 1881 by Rev. Samuel Scott Allnut. It was initially set up in a small house located near Kimari Bazar of Chandni Chowk. The college was established to provide education to the children of British Officials.

After 60 years of continuance, In 1941 it finally shifted to the North Campus area, University Enclave. Earlier St. Stephens College was affiliated with Calcutta University, later it changed to Punjab University and in 1992 it got its affiliation from Delhi University.

Hindu College

Hindu College was initially established in the year 1899 in the historic Kinari Bazaar of Chandni Chowk. Since its inception, the college highly contributed to the national movements for independence of the country.

Like Stephens, Hindu College was also affiliated with Punjab University, and later in 1922 it got affiliated with Delhi University, It co-ed college and is also listed among the oldest colleges in India.

Shri Ram College of Commerce

Incepted in 1926, Shri Ram College of Commerce was established by the Commercial Education Trust as Commerce College. Later in 1951, it was renamed Shri Ram College of Commerce in the name of Sir Shri Ram, the founder of the college.

SRCC is one of the best DU Colleges and is also a dream college for commerce students. The College is also accredited with a Grade of "A+" by NAAC.

SVC was established in the year 1961 with the intention to impart education to South Indian students. The college is managed by Trimula Tiiruathi Devasthanams Trust, Shri Venkateshwar College offers over 20 undergraduate courses, and 9 postgraduate courses and has around 211 teaching faculties.

Initially, the college offered only B.A in Tamil, Telugu, and other courses in arts and humanities but after getting affiliated with the University of Delhi, SVC started offering many other UG and PG level courses in Arts and Science.

Sri Venkateswara College
