Eligibility Criteria for the IMU CET Merchant Navy Entrance Exam

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria for their desired courses in the IMU CET exams. The eligibility requirements are given on the IMU CET website. The candidates who do not meet the eligibility for the IMU CET exams will not be allowed the seats for their desired course and cannot download the Merchant Navy exam date Sheet 2025.

Academic Qualifications for the Merchant Navy Entrance Exam

• Candidates must qualify for the Class 12 exams from a recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as the compulsory subjects.
• Candidates must secure at least 60% in the overall aggregate of the Class 12 Board exams.
• English is the compulsory language and the required marks are 50%.
• The minimum marks are relaxed for candidates belonging to the reserved category. However, this relaxation does not apply to English marks.
• Exams considered for IMU CET exams(other than CBSE Boards) are- Pre University exam conducted by a recognized Board/ Final exam of the 2-year course of the joint services wing of the Defence academy/3-year Diploma recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education/High School Certificate examination of Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate exam/General Certificate Education exam (London/Sri Lanka/Cambridge)/University exam in India or any foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities and equivalent to 10+2 in India.

Merchant Navy Age Category

• Candidates must have a minimum age of 18 years and a maximum age of 25 years on 1st August of the particular year.
• The upper age limit is relaxed for candidates belonging to the reserved category.

Medical fitness requirements for the Merchant Navy

• BTech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) and B.Sc(Ship Building and Research must issue a Medical Fitness Certificate by a Registered Practitioner.
• Candidates selected for the Marine Engineering course must issue a Certificate from Doctors approved by the Director-General of Shipping.
• Candidates must not have the following eyesight conditions: Squint-eyed/morbid eye condition/aggravating eyelids/Trachoma or Iris complication.
• The eyesight and vision of the candidates must have the following criteria: good binocular vision, pupils normally accommodated to light, and properly moving eyeballs.
