CA Exam Information 2024

The Chartered Accountant (CA) exams, administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), are renowned for their difficulty and rigor. Divided into three levels—CA Foundation, CA Intermediate, and CA Finals—candidates must successfully navigate each stage to attain the esteemed designation of Chartered Accountant (CA).

The CA exams are conducted biannually, with sessions scheduled for May/June and November/December. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has officially announced the dates for the May/June session, unveiling the Intermediate and Final exam dates in May, and the Foundation exam in June. From February 2 to March 2, 2024, interested and eligible candidates were able to register at the ICAI portal. In addition, the admission card is scheduled to be issued in April 2024.

Who are Chartered Accountants?

A chartered accountant is an experienced financial professional who has completed a rigorous training program and obtained a recognized qualification. In various areas of accounting, finance, auditing, and taxation they have a great deal of experience and expertise. Ethical conduct, integrity, and adherence to professional standards are characteristic of chartered accountants.

What is ICAI?

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) governs the accounting profession in India, providing training and conducting examinations for aspiring accountants. Established in 1949, ICAI has been offering these services for decades.

CAANZ conducts its examinations within the International Qualifications Framework (IQF), providing pathways to becoming a certified CA. However, each pathway has unique requirements for passing exams and duration of study.

Levels of CA exam

• CA Foundation Exam:

The CA Foundation examination, which is carried out two times a year and administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in June and December, serves as an initial stage towards becoming a certified accountant. Individuals shall be required to sign up with the Board of Studies of the College of Arts and Sciences upon completion of the Class X examination to be eligible to take the CA Foundation examination. Furthermore, candidates must have successfully completed their 10+2 education from a recognized educational institution.

• CA Intermediate Exam:

During the intermediate stage, the CA journey is segmented into two groups, each comprising four subjects, representing the second phase toward achieving Chartered Accountancy. 

To be eligible for the intermediate examination, students must have successfully cleared the CA Foundation Exam or possess an equivalent advanced degree.

• CA Final Exam:

The final examination of the CA is the final stage in the process of becoming a chartered accountant. Only if students have completed both levels of the intermediate CA will they be allowed to take the final examinations during the internship period. There are two groups at the CA Final level, each having four papers.
