Eligibility and age limit criteria for the BARC Exam:

Eligibility

  • Candidates must be a citizen of India.
  • Candidates must secure a valid GATE score for applying in Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • Candidates who are serving in other Central Governments, State governments, or PSUs are also eligible to apply provided that they have a No Objection Certificate(NOC) issued by their employer at the time of the interview.
  • Candidates who have appeared for the final year exams and are awaiting the results are also eligible to apply.

Age limit

  • The age limit of candidates belonging to the General category is 26 years.
  • The age limit of candidates belonging to SC/ST is 31 years.
  • The age limit of candidates belonging to OBC is 29 years.
  • The next of kin for victims of the 1984 riots is 31 years old.
  • The age limit of Kashmiri Migrants( 1981 -- 1990)- 31 years.

3 Geology

Candidates must secure at least 60% marks in Graduation or Integrated M.Sc

BTech(Food Technology) candidates must secure at least 60% marks.

Post Graduate candidates must have any of the following subjects Physics/Chemistry/Agricultural Chemistry/Biochemistry

Candidates who have qualified for GATE exams must have a valid score

Please Remember:

  • Candidates who have a Ph.D. degree are not eligible. 
  • Candidates from the field of M.Sc (Research) are not eligible.
  • Candidates applying for the Biosciences discipline are not eligible if they have the following subjects MSc specialization-Fisheries, Marine Biology, Bioinformatics, Home Science, Bioanalytical Science, Agronomy, and Analytical Science.
  • Candidates with BE/BTech in BioTechnology or Biomedical Engineering are not eligible.

Steps for the BARC Recruitment Exam:

The shortlisting process for the BARC Exam is based on Online computer-based exams and also the GATE exam score of the candidate.

  • Online exams are held in the different disciplines of Science and Engineering and the candidates can choose their center for examination based on the available slots. The BARC Exam is held in 40 cities and the exam slots of the candidates are allotted based on their application.
  • Candidates who wish to be shortlisted for the interview through their GATE score must have the proper GATE subject and a valid score. 
  • Candidates who have cleared the online exams or have a valid GATE score can appear for the Interview round. Interviews for all the disciplines are conducted in Mumbai except Geology and Geophysics which will be held in Hyderabad.
