Institute of Engineering and Rural Technology was started in 1955 it was the first polytechnic college in Asia. In 1962, the UP government took over the control and named it “Allahabad Polytechnic, Allahabad”.
In 1982 the college was enjoying a highly reputed status and achieved various awards in multifarious activities. So, the name was changed from “Allahabad Polytechnic, Allahabad” to “Institute of Engineering and Rural Technology.” The Institute was awarded Academic Autonomy by the State Government.
IERT was established in 2001 and is currently affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technology University which was earlier known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University. The college offers 7 courses in B.Tech. The campus area covers 26.5 acres of land.
The institution has a separate hostel facility for boys and girls. There are three kinds of the library in the college. Central Library, Reference Library, and National Digital Library. These libraries are full of books and can find any book related to their course. Well-equipped labs are there in the college to help students innovate and learn in a better way.
The faculty of the college is experienced and cooperative. It is one of the best Engineering colleges in UP. Students from all around the world get admission in this college. Newcomers are given a different hostel to avoid ragging and every action of students is supervised by wardens.
A separate hostel facility is available for boys and girls. The mess provides healthy and hygienic food.
Students need to give the entrance exam UPTU to get admission. There’s no interview round.
