The Bihar School Examination Board, also known as BSEB is a statutory body that works under section 3 of the Bihar School Examination Act – 1952. BSEB functions under the Government of Bihar and conducts examinations at the secondary and senior secondary standard in both the Government and private schools that belongs to the state of Bihar.
BSEB is headquartered in Patna which is the capital of Bihar. Apart from conducting the school examinations, BSEB also organizes the departmental examinations such as Certificate in Physical Education and Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) for Bihar state, Diploma in Physical Education, Simultaltala Residential Entrance Examinations, Examination for Diploma in Elementary Education, and many more.
BSEB conducts secondary and senior secondary school examinations twice a year. One is the annual board examinations in February–March and the other is the supplementary examination which is held in August–September every year.
The Full form of BSEB is Bihar School Examination Board. BSEB is the education board that is responsible for organizing the final year secondary school examination in the State of Bihar, India.
BSEB is undertaken by the government of Bihar which is accountable to take the secondary and senior secondary exams for both the government and private schools of Bihar. The Bihar Board Exam is conducted in February or March every year.

The BSEB class 12th exam is conducted in February every year. Last year BSEB 12th class exam was conducted from February 3 to February 13. Similarly, the BSEB class 10th exam was conducted from February 2025. The BSEB admit card for class 10th and 12th was released on the official website of the Bihar board. To download the admit card, candidates have to visit the official website of the BSEB and download it from there.
Bihar board organizes the Secondary (Class 10) and Senior Secondary (Class 12) Board examinations in both the Government and private schools of Bihar. Both the exams are generally organized in February or March every year. In addition to this, the Bihar board also organizes the Supplementary School Examinations in August/September based on the course/syllabus announced by the State Government.
In addition to this, BSEB also conducts departmental examinations such as Diploma in Physical Education, Certificate in Physical Education, and Teachers Training Examination (TET) at the state level. The terms and conditions for such exams, which are not conducted yearly, are controlled by the State Government. Currently, more than 6,000 schools in Bihar are affiliated with BSEB. The current Chairman of BSEB is Shri Anand Kishor, IAS while the secretary is Pramod Kumar.
The BSEB 10th and 12th exams are conducted in February or March every year. The Time table of BSEB 10th and 12th exams are released in November every year. This will help the students to make their preparation effectively. Both the exams were conducted in two sittings. The timing of the exams is as follows:
First sitting: 9:30 am to 12:45 pm
Second sitting: 1:45 pm to 5:00 pm
The BSEB 10th admit card is released in January every year. Candidates can download the admit card online mode. A copy of the admit card is made available to the respective schools also. If any student is not able to download it, then they can ask their respective schools for the same. Candidates were given a total of 3 hours 15 minutes to complete their exam and an extra 15 minutes will be given to the students to read their question paper.
BSEB class 12th exams are conducted in February or March every year. The timetable of the class 12th exam is released on the official website of the Bihar board in November. Candidates can visit the official website of the Bihar board and download the timetable from there. The total duration of the class 12th exam is 3 hours and 15 minutes. The first 15 minutes were given to the students to read the question paper. The 12th class exam is conducted in two sessions. The exam timings are given below. Have a look.

The BSEB class 10th and 12th exam admit card is released on the official website of the Bihar board. Candidates can download their admit card from the official web portal. The admit card is made available on the website in January and the candidates can get it from there.
To download the admit card, candidates have to log in to the web portal by the registration number they had at the time of the registration process. If any candidate has not registered for the exam, they won’t be able to get the admit card and therefore they cannot sit for the exam. So, all the candidates must fill out the registration form on time to appear for the exam.
Once the candidates have done the login, they can now download the admit card. This admits card will work as a hall ticket and give entry to the examination hall. It is advised to all the candidates to take them to admit card along with them on the day of their examination.

BSEB class 10th Syllabus
The BSEB Class 10th Syllabus is huge but candidates can cover it very easily if they know the basics. Topics in English subjects incorporate Tenses, Prepositions, Nouns, Vocabulary, Writing, and Verbs among many others. The main purpose of English is to improve the speaking and writing skills of the students.
Topics in Mathematics are Coordinate Geometry, Arithmetic Progressions, Trigonometry, Quadratic Equations, Surface Areas and Volumes, Probability, Statistics, etc.
Physics incorporates Magnetic Effects of Electric Current, Electricity, Sources of Energy, Human Eye and Colourful World, Light, Reflection and Refraction, as the main topics.
Chemistry incorporates Metals and Non-Metals, Acids, Bases and Salts, Periodic Classification of Elements, Chemical Reactions and Equations, and Carbon and its Compounds, etc.
In Biology, students will study topics such as study management of Natural Resources, Life Processes, Heredity and Evolution, Control and Coordination, Reproduction, and Environment.
BSEB 12th Syllabus
The BSEB releases the Bihar Board Intermediate Syllabus on its official website for all the streams - Science, Arts, and Commerce. Along with the Bihar Board class 12th Syllabus, students must also know the marking scheme by looking to the Bihar Board class 12th Exam Pattern. The BSEB Class 12th Syllabus incorporates in-depth information about the important topics which has to be covered while preparing for the Class 12th exam. It is advised to the students to prepare a timetable so that they can follow it and plan their study accordingly. Students can download the syllabus from the official web portal of the Bihar board in November.
BSEB releases the Exam Pattern for class 10th and 12th on its official website. All the students must know the exam pattern as it will help them in preparing for the exam. According to the Bihar Board 10th Exam Pattern, the BSEB 10th exams incorporate 50% objective-type questions, carrying 1 mark each. Subjects that have practicals have 40 objective-type questions whereas the subjects that do not have practical exams incorporate 50 objective type questions.
For Bihar Board Class 12th students, subjects that have both the theory and practicals will only have 35 MCQs in the theory paper as per the Bihar Board 12th Exam Pattern. Those students who are preparing for the 10th and 12th examinations must also go through the Bihar Board Syllabus.
The Bihar Board releases the BSEB question papers or model papers for the candidates. These sample papers will help the students to practice to get good marks in the examinations. Students should practice as many sample papers as possible as it can provide an insight into the pattern of the question paper.
Sample papers also provide a way for the students to know the expected questions in the BSEB examinations. Class 10th students should download the Bihar Board 10th sample papers and practice them within a limited time period.
For the Bihar Board Class 12th students, they must download the sample papers and practice them to improve their speed and accuracy. Solving the sample papers will also help the candidates to check their strengths and weaknesses.
The BSEB examinations require a full-on preparation strategy as the syllabus is very huge. Candidates have to go through the entire syllabus and divide it into parts, at their convenience. Dividing the Syllabus into parts will help them in studying in an organized way and as a result, they will be able to practice the topics as per their strong and weak areas.
Students must also look after the Bihar Board Exam Pattern to know the marking scheme as well as the type of questions that are normally asked in the examinations. The BSEB generally announces the Result in March/April every year on its official website. Students can check their Bihar Board Result using their login credentials such as username and password. Students should score more than 33% marks in all the subjects to pass the exam.
