After completing 12th, most Science students believe BTech is the most sought-after degree to build a successful career. It indeed is.
But some students are not exactly sure if they would be able to opt for a B.Tech degree because they are not sure that they would get enough marks in the 10+2 board exams to become eligible for the course.
Many students have asked us during our counseling session - “Can I do B.tech after passing 12th with 50% marks?”.
Well, The answer is Yes, you are absolutely eligible to pursue a B.Tech course after 12th if you have scored 45% or higher marks in 10+2 board examinations.
However, you must pass in all the subjects with atleast 45% aggregate marks in all of the major subjects.
To know more about BTech Eligibility Criteria (Minimum percentage required for B.Tech admission), please continue reading this article…
According to All India Technical Education (AICTE) which is the apex advisory body for technical education:
OR
Any three subjects from these 14 subjects: Informatics Science, Chemistry, Engineering Graphics, Technical Vocational Subject, Physics, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Busines Studies, Information Technology, Biology, Mathematics, Electronics, and Computer Science.
However, the combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics will remain compulsory for some branches of engineering such as Mechanical Engineering.
But the combination of these three subjects (PCM) will not be applicable to courses Like Agriculture engineering, Biotechnology, and many others.
If you have scored only 45% to 50% marks in 10+2 and you are afraid that you won’t get admission to a good engineering college with such a low score, then first you need to stop panicking or getting worried.
You still have a chance to get admission to a good college if you manage to crack an engineering entrance exam.
There are many reputed private and public engineering colleges that ask for a valid entrance exam score to provide admission in the B.Tech course.
In such colleges, your 10+2 marks are considered merely an eligibility requirement and not an admission criterion.
Most popular and reputed colleges in India accept the JEE Mains scores to offer admission seats to the students.
JEE Mains is a national level BTech entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency, being a national entrance exam, JEE mains scores are accepted in almost all the engineering colleges across India.
Apart from JEE-Mains, there are many other state-level and university-level entrance exams. These exams can be your gateway to getting admission to a reputed B.Tech college.
