The examination will take place at 41 centres across the country. The exam is conducted two times a year. The total no. of Posts are approximately 500+ which are likely to change. The exam is organised to fill up 500+ posts of Commissioned Officers. CDS exam is held for granting admission to the candidates at Indian Military Academy- Dehradun, Indian Naval Academy- Ezhimala, Air Force Academy-Hyderabad and Officers' Training Academy-Chennai.
Candidates who wish to crack the UPSC to Conduct CDS (i) Exam must follow the eligibility criteria for the exam. The eligibility criteria for Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers Training Academy (OTA) is a Graduation degree from any recognised University/Institution. The criteria for Air Force Academy (AFA) is that the candidate must hold a Graduation degree (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering (B.Tech). For the Indian Naval Academy (INA) eligibility is an Engineering degree from a recognised University/Institution.
UPSC will be released the Admit Card on its official website. The candidates who filled the application form successfully can download their Admit card and take a printout by visiting the official website i.e. upsc.gov.in. The candidates are reminded that without the UPSC CDS Exam Admit Card no one will be allowed to sit in the examination hall.
Therefore, candidates must not forget to bring the UPSC CDS Exam Admit Card to the exam centre. The registration process was commenced in the month of October 2023. As per, the released official calendar, the second phase of the CDS exam will be held in the month of September 2023.
➣ The candidates are selected on the basis of written exam, Interview and Personality Test and Medical Fitness Test.
➣The exam will be held in an offline mode (pen-paper based mode).
➣The question paper will comprise Objective Type Questions from the English, Elementary Mathematics and General Knowledge sections.
➣ There will be negative marking, if the candidate marks a wrong answer then 1/3rd of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted.
➣ Therefore, candidates are advised not to try guessing any answer as it will cost them heavily.
➣ Candidates are requested to use only a black ball pen for marking the answers.
➣The commission has instructed the candidates not to bring any costly items to the exam centre and it has banned communication devices inside the premises.
➣ Candidates are suggested not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones/ pagers/ Bluetooth or any valuable/costly items to the venue of the examination as systems for safekeeping cannot be assured.
