NIFT Exam 2024 Information

A National Level Entry test offered by the National Institute of Fashion Technology is called NIFT. The results of this exam, known as the merits, will be made available by NIFT. Additionally, 18 member institutes will be offering courses under NIFT, including B.Des, M.DES, BF.Tech, MF. Tech and MFM. courses. There will be two components to the final NIFT 2024 program weighting:

  • Written test
  • A personal interview or situational test.

Once the application opens, a direct application link will be given. The written exam consists of both GAT and CAT. Written exams are scheduled to take place during the first week of February 24. The Common Admission Test, or CAT, evaluates a candidate's concept creation, illustration abilities, intuitiveness, and capacity for observation.

The General Ability Test, or GAT, is a multiple-choice examination for admission that consists of multiple-choice questions. Its subtests cover quantitative aptitude, communication skills, English comprehension, analytical and logical ability, general knowledge, and current affairs. These programs have a combined intake capacity of about 5,215 seats.

The NIFT exam has two stages:

Stage 1: Written exams

  • GAT - Computer-based exam
  • CAT - Offline exam; ONLY B.Des and M.Des candidates need to take the CAT.

Stage 2: A personal interview or situational test.

The Situation Test will be conducted offline, while the PI will be held online.

NIFT 2024 Exam Selection Process

Written Examinations:

  1. These include the CAT and GAT. While only candidates for the B.Des and M.Des programs must take the CAT, all programs require the GAT test.
  2. Situation Test/Personal Interview:
  3. B.Des  Shortlisted candidates are required to participate in a Situation Test, whereas PG candidates must participate in a Personal Interview. The B.F.Tech program is the lone exception, where the entrance merit list will be created only using GAT results.
  4. B.Des candidates who get shortlisted have to appear in the Situation Test, whereas PG candidates need to appear in a Personal Interview. The only exception is the B.F.Tech program, where the admission merit list will be prepared solely based on GAT scores.
  5. Candidates for the B.Des and M.Des programs must appear in both the CAT and the GAT; candidates for other courses just need to take the GAT.
