Sikkim Manipal University is a distinctive Public-Private Partnership between the Government of Sikkim and Manipal Education and Medical Group. Established in 1995, the University offers graduate and postgraduate courses in Management and IT. The University is accredited “A+” by NAAC and ranked 101 by NIRF.

SMU-DE, the distance education branch of Sikkim Manipal University, Sikkim, was formed in 2001 and is a leading provider of professional Distance Learning Programs in India today. The university offers MBA, MCA, BCA, and BBA courses. The University Grants Commission (UGC) recognizes and accepts all these programs. 

Over 5 lakh students have benefited from their distance education programs so far, taking full advantage of the experience of the core faculty members and the 6,000+ dedicated and qualified mentors who support them. The university also offers scholarships to the students.
