IIT Kharagpur Admission 2026: How to Apply

IIT Kharagpur Admission Process 2026:

IIT Kharagpur admits students through national-level entrance examinations. There is no separate institute-level exam for any programme.

B.Tech / Dual Degree Admission

Admission requires clearing JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced. Seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling. The closing rank for IIT Kharagpur Computer Science is typically within the top 200 in the General category. Dual Degree programmes (5 years) are also available with slightly relaxed cutoffs.

M.Tech Admission

M.Tech admission is through GATE score. Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview. Over 50 specializations are available across departments.

MBA Admission (VGSoM)

The Vinod Gupta School of Management admits students based on CAT score followed by written ability test, GD, and personal interview. Typical CAT cutoff is around 90+ percentile.

M.Sc / Ph.D Admission

M.Sc admissions happen through IIT JAM. Ph.D admissions are twice a year (July and January) based on GATE / UGC-NET / CSIR-NET with written test and interview. Monthly fellowship of Rs. 31,000 to Rs. 35,000 is provided to Ph.D scholars.
