IIT Guwahati Admission 2026: How to Apply

IIT Guwahati Admission Process 2026:

All admissions at IIT Guwahati are through national-level entrance exams. No separate institute-level test is conducted.

B.Tech Admission

Requires JEE Main qualification followed by JEE Advanced. Seat allotment through JoSAA counselling. Computer Science closing rank is typically within top 600-700 in General category. Electrical closes around 1,500 and Mechanical around 2,500.

B.Des Admission

Through UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design) followed by counselling.

M.Tech Admission

Based on GATE score. Shortlisted candidates may be called for interview depending on department.

MBA Admission

Through CAT score followed by GD and personal interview. Typical cutoff around 90+ percentile.

M.Sc / M.Des / Ph.D

M.Sc via IIT JAM, M.Des via CEED, Ph.D via GATE/UGC-NET/CSIR-NET with written test and interview. Ph.D fellowship of Rs. 31,000-35,000 per month.

• Entrance exam scorecard (JEE/GATE/CAT/JAM/UCEED/CEED)
• Category certificate (if applicable)
• Transfer certificate and passport-size photos
