IIM Bangalore Admission Process 2026:

Getting into IIM Bangalore is a multi-stage process. A high CAT score is necessary but not sufficient — the institute looks at your complete profile before making a decision.

PGP Admission (2-year MBA equivalent)

Step 1 — CAT Exam: Take the Common Admission Test, conducted annually in November-December. IIMB typically requires 99+ percentile in the General category for shortlisting. OBC-NC around 95+, SC around 80+, ST around 60+.

Step 2 — Shortlist: Based on CAT score, 10th & 12th marks, graduation score, and work experience. Having consistent 80%+ academics helps significantly.

Step 3 — WAT & PI: Shortlisted candidates appear for a Written Ability Test (essay on a given topic, 20-30 minutes) and a Personal Interview (15-20 minutes). The PI panel typically includes 2-3 professors who probe your career goals, awareness of current affairs, and decision-making ability.

Step 4 — Final Selection: Composite score is calculated combining CAT (40-45%), academics (25-30%), work experience (10-15%), WAT+PI (15-20%), and diversity.

EPGP Admission (1-year Executive MBA)

Requires minimum 5 years of full-time work experience after graduation. Admits based on GMAT/GRE score (or CAT), work profile, and interview. Average work experience of admitted batch is usually 8-10 years.

FPM Admission (Doctoral Programme)

Requires CAT/GMAT/GRE/GATE/UGC-NET score. Shortlisted candidates go through a research proposal presentation and interview. Monthly fellowship of Rs. 40,000+ provided.
