Computers have been playing a vital role in every home and office. In the present world, it's really impossible to imagine our life without a computing device. The current and future world is totally dependant on Computer. In almost every field, people are using computers which are helping them to complete their work quickly and conveniently. Not only for work purpose, but children can also use it for gaming, studying, watching movies, reading novels/newspapers etc. From a small scale business to a very high-level business, everyone in this world needs a computer to succeed in their business.

Computer Science and Information Technology are one of the most prominent choices of students to answer all their career-related questions. Computer science is the method, experimentation, and engineering used to create the design and utilization of computers. It includes the study of algorithms that process, store, and communicate digital information.

An individual, who studies computer science at an undergraduate level learns theSoftware (language and programming etc) aspect of the computer as well as the knowledge of Operating System, Programming language, Database etc. Information technology is basically the utilization and study of computers to store, retrieve, transmit, and manipulate data, or information, often in the context of a business or other enterprise.

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria For CS & IT

Candidates who are in the pursuit of pursuing Computer Science and Information Technology Courses, then it is recommended to pursue a degree in CS and IT programmes. Universities like IIT and NIT which are govt. Recognized and the most prestigious institutes of India offer admission on the basis of AIEEE and JEE-Mains. The various entrance examination is conducted on the basis of 12th percentage and merit score.

Let's check out the eligibility criteria for candidates who can only apply for the respective entrance exam for these courses at different levels:-

  • Diploma Course:- Diploma programs for Computer Science stream are 3 years long duration courses. Students who have completed 10th and/or 12th with minimum 50% of marks are eligible to pursue such Diploma courses.
  • Undergraduate Courses:- For UG courses like BE/B. Tech in CS and IT or BCA, candidates are required to pass intermediate from any recognized educational Board, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Students are required to score an aggregate of 50% marks in each subject respectively.
  • Post-Graduate Courses:- For Master’s Degree, PG Diploma and PG Certificate programs are PG (Postgraduate) level courses, the applicants need to complete relevant Bachelor’s Degree for being eligible to pursue these courses.
  • Doctoral Courses:- Candidates who have completed relevant post-graduate degree or equivalent are eligible to pursue this program.

Process

Admission Procedure For CS & IT

The admission procedure of Computer Science and Information Technology courses varies according to the level in which they want to pursue admission and may differ from institute to institute.

  • Diploma Courses:- In India, diploma programmes in Computer Science and IT are usually offered by many polytechnic, technical education and engineering institutes. Most of the institutes have the direct admission process for the interested students. Candidates who want to join the course can approach the institute and fill up the admission form.  Seats will be allotted to eligible students on the basis of marks scored by them in 10th board examination.
  • Undergraduate Courses:- Almost every university/college of India offers the graduate level degree of Computer Science and IT to the students. In India, National level examinations are conducted in order to provide admission to the students in government or recognized university whereas some of the institutions give direct admissions to the students.
  • Post-Graduate level Courses:- For taking admission in post-graduate level, the candidates need to pass Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with minimum 50% of the aggregate marks. The admission will be given on the basis of Entrance examination or merit score secured in Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Doctoral Courses:- Admissions in Doctoral programmes are given on the basis of their score of CET (like UGC NET) or through their own entrance test. Hence, students are required to qualify these exams (for which they should be eligible to appear) in order to get admission in the course. After the conduct of the test, a merit list of finally qualified candidates is prepared and candidates are invited for the admission process by the respective university or college. After the release of the final merit list, the process of final allotment of seats to the candidates take place and the candidates are asked to deposit their fee for Ph.D. in Computer Science & IT course and register for the respective academic year.
