NEET refers to the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test, which is conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) every year to offer admissions to the top and reputed medical colleges in India. While in 2026, the NEET exam is supposed to be conducted in the first week of May, i.e. 4th May 2026, in pen and paper mode.

Three major subjects, Physics, Chemistry and Biology are included in the NEET exam syllabus. NEET 2026 detailed information, including exam dates, syllabus, eligibility, and preparation tips are mentioned below.

NEET 2026 Exam Dates

  • NEET 2026 is supposed to be held in the first week of May that is 4th May 2026.

NEET 2026 Syllabus

Every year NTA release the NEET syllabus hence, in 2026 exams are supposed to be held in May, so the official syllabus for NEET 2026 will be released in February 2026. Last year few changes were made to the syllabus of NEET UG as mentioned below.

Eligibility Criteria for NTA NEET Exam 2026

For NEET 2026, there are several eligibility criteria that are required to be fulfilled by the student while applying for the NEET exam -

  • Nationality - Indian Citizens, NRI, OCI, PIO or foreign nationals.
  • Qualification - 10 + 2 passed from any recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Age limit - The minimum age should be 17 at the time of admission. 

Exam Pattern of NEET Exam 2026

The pattern for the NEET exam is mostly unchanged every year, the exam pattern for 2026 is mentioned below.

  • Mode -  Offline (Paper & Pen mode)
  • Types of Questions - Multiple Type Questions 
  • Duration - 3 Hours 20 minutes and an extra 1 hour 5 minutes for PWD students.
  • Subjects - The subjects included in the NEET exam are Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany.
  • Marking Scheme - For correct answers, 4 marks are allotted and for incorrect answers, 1 mark is deducted.

Best Preparation Tips for NEET 2026

  • Analyse the exam syllabus and weightage of marks so that students can prepare accordingly. 
  • Solve more previous year's question papers because they provide insight into patterns of the NEET exam.
