Why is the NIRF Ranking important?

There are a plethora of Colleges in India that claim to be the best. Earlier (before the adoption of NIRF)  there were no such parameters or ranking forums that could verify their claims and determine the quality of their education standards. With so many colleges as options,  identifying the best college for their course of education was a troublesome task for the students.

There were no certain ground rules established by any authority that could decide their claims to be truthful. The National Institutional Ranking Framework makes these daunting tasks easier for us by ranking the top colleges across India based on various parameters.

In simple words, NIRF rankings filter out the finest Colleges from the abundance of colleges in India under various categories such as Management, Engineering, Law, Dental Architecture, Medical, Pharmacy, University, and overall categories.

This Ranking Framework helps us to determine the quality of the education provided by the institutions. Candidates who want to pursue a valuable degree can definitely consider taking admission to the top colleges ranked by NIRF.

Is NIRF Ranking Reliable?

Many people have googled the question “Is NIRF Ranking Reliable ?”So let us clear all of your doubts related to NIRF. NIRF Rankings is a genuine methodology that is used to rank colleges based on several parameters.

The Ministry of Education has approved NIRF to rank educational institutions across India, so obviously, the rankings are genuine and not biased at all.

The National Institute Ranking Framework Ranking Method ensures to give credible ranking and scores to the Institutes by performing an in-depth survey and research based on several parameters.

These parameters determine the education standards of colleges across India.

An institute needs to maintain a good track record to make it through the list of National Institutional Ranking Framework Rankings.

Every year thousands of Institutes, Colleges, and Universities file their entries for NIRF, where they are judged based on the following Parameters

  1. Teaching Learning & Resources (Students Strength. Faculty-Student Ratio, Combined Metric For Faculty with Ph.D., Financial Resources of the College & their Utilisation).
  2. Research and Professional Practice (Combined Metric For Publications, Combined Metric for Quality of Publications, IPR & Patents: Published & Granted (IPR), Footprint of Projects & Professional Practice (FPPP).
  3. Graduation Outcomes (Metric For University Examinations, Metric for No. of Ph.D. Students Graduated)
  4. Outreach & Inclusivity (Percentage of Students from other states/Countries, Percentage of Women, Economically & Socially Challenged Students, Facilities for Physically Challenged Students, Perception Ranking)
  5. Peer Perception (Perception of Academic Peers & Employers)

In simple words, NIRF first collects data related to infrastructure, facilities, Faculties, etc. Also, the National Institutional Ranking Framework collects data on the weightage given to every subcategory.

The overall scores are based on these parameters and last, the colleges are ranked according to the overall score obtained by the college or university.

So yes, we agree that NIRF rankings are totally reliable and based on unbiased inspections and research conducted by the right authorities.
