10 Reasons How Practical Education varies from Theoretical Education

Education is a pathway that leads towards a rewarding career and prosperous life. Today, Education has become vital for every individual to survive in this world because this is the only weapon that grants opportunities to learn and gain knowledge. In the present era, everybody is in the hunt to pursue a quality education. It is something that needs to inculcate appropriately since the grass root level. If the primary education of a child is good then it can be quite beneficial for its future.

A Good education gives you a better lime and understanding about life. Education is the key that can reveal a whole generation of responsible human beings who can absorb good teachings and can impart it to many others. In today ’s world, there are two aspects of education: Practical and Theoretical education. But here the question arises in mind that what type of education, we should emphasize more. On one side is theory education and on the other side is the practical application of theory. But out of these two, the one which is more valuable for the students is the practical education. Below we have mentioned the reasons why practical knowledge is better than theoretical knowledge.

1. No more swotting :

There are some people who have the congenital talent to remember whatever they read, even if they have read it once. While others find it significantly difficult to commemorate even a few lines from a book. Instead of turning into bookworms, these people find substitute ways to remember important information.

The last alternate way is through practical education. For example, a student can waste his/her endless hours trying to memorize the features of a system, but an actual look and analysis of the system will stick a picture in the mind of the student. This takes off pressure from the mind, thus assisting in the education process by reducing stress.

2. Burgeon’s  Deep Understanding :

Practical education provides an extensive understanding of the subject. The dilemma with theoretical education is that most of the students are passive learners. In practical education, on the other hand, the students are active subscribers. This extends their level of understanding. The best way to learn and grasp a theory is by testifying it in practice.

No one can acquire it by reading it off a page or hearing it from a lecturer. For example, when trying to understand the phenomenon in physics, it is always a good idea to perform a related experiment in the college laboratory to understand easily.

3. Upgrades Skills :

Theoretical education increases knowledge. However, it does not provide the required set of skills to perform a job. This results in a serious lack of training for graduates to be able to tackle a task at their prospective place of employment.

Exercises, which only exist in practical education, help students develop certain skills that prove to be extremely helpful later on. Theoretical education can, undoubtedly,  provide expertise and a certain level of proficiency to the students. However, theoretical applications cannot provide the skills that can only be obtained through practical education.

4. Knowledge perpetuates in the mind :

When we mug up a lesson for an exam, our brain tends to memorize it for a short period of time which can even be shorter than the duration of the test thus not following the purpose because our brain forgets it easily. Students, always try very hard to learn an equation or an explanation word to word by heart but always forget upon something.

While doing it practically, it can be in the form of experiments, real-life projects or educational trips, the knowledge, and the whole learning experience stays in our mind for long.

5. Real Life Problems :

The basis of practical education is the simulation of our daily-life problems. As an example, in practical education, engineering applicants would be made to solve a particular problem. In the practical work, the students would be provided with the tools and equipment required to perform the task at hand.

Of course, they will require theoretical education to pick the relevant knowledge which is necessary to perform the task. Though, they will only be able to find a solution through practical work. When students are exposed to the applications of the theories they learn in lectures, they are more likely to be able to reproduce the same in their jobs later on.

6. Can Galvanize teamwork :

While providing the practical expertise to the students, the activities which are mostly involved demands team projects and programs where the students are bounded to work in a group with a team. It not only advances student’s skills and abilities to communicate with his/her class fellows and encourage them to do all the work together in teamwork.

Teamwork also prepares students to inbuilt the learning process more easily and quickly because students grasp things more faster while learning it in a group. They tend to enjoy fun with each other’s company and the entire pedagogy procedure becomes less tedious and full of fun. Generally, individuals learn more while having fun.

7. Interactive Education emphasizes more :

Practical education is way more interactive than theoretical. It does not just acquire teaching and lecturing regardless of whether the student is able to understand the concepts or not. Theory education usually employs teachers who teach in a simple manner or books which may or may not incorporate interactive exercises.

Whereas in practical works, only inputs from students are not just invited but are mandatory.  Interactive classes, interactive exercises, experiments, lab activities, are some of the important features of practical education which ensure the involvement of students, making them learn and understand more. And learning is the fundamental purpose of education, so in order to improve the learning level, more importance should be given to practical education rather than theory.

8. Includes practice :

Reading a lesson, again and again, can also help you a lot. But performing experiments or activities based on it consists of practicing and it's a very common saying, “Practice makes a man perfect”. Go on reading a guide book for a new language without speaking that language at all and you will see no progress.

But as soon as you will start using that language and try to conversate with other people, you will surely see a change. You will see an improvement. So just sitting at a corner with a book or going to class and listening to a lecture has no practice involved unless the theoretical teaching is transformed into practical activities.

9. It is quite Interesting :

Experiments, field trips, projects, are the things which interest the students more rather than books, assignments, or lectures? They are so much more interesting and gripping than reading the regular bookish material. Taking a one-hour chemistry lecture will be more surviving but if that is about an experiment in the laboratory then you can spend hours.

10. Entertaining as well as Secure :

This is pretty naive. When you find something interesting and have got your heart in it does seem easy and you will do it very attentively. And especially when the time comes to learn through practical sources instead of conventional theoretical ones, the learning process does become comparatively easier. Also while you are doing something practical, it reaches your brain more effectively making it easier to understand, apply and remember.
